@ldottxt@kind.social It feels like option 3, but that my cynicism towards companies hiring. I feel like they post that salary level to draw you in, and when you're disappointed with their offer they say 'Oh, but the 55k was for full time... eventually.'.

@ldottxt@kind.social the weird smells are the wide hour range, which the top end is very close to FT, then the salary range with no specific mention about it being for a PT role. I'd assume that was FT salary, part time on paper but in practice probably closer to the 35hrs. You'd know more about the salary expectations but i would assume theyre *inferring* PT total comp, but the reality would be different.

@ldottxt@kind.social I think they are either intentionally misleading or they have described the pay for the job in the wrong order. Of course it depends on the job but Salary = FT, while PT is hourly. I have never known someone to receive an annual salary for PT work. The information is too vague. I would assume that a person would start at part time with an undisclosed hourly wage and be eligible for FT, if it works out, with a salary between 55K and 65K.

@ldottxt@kind.social Honestly, I would assume that the "range" is a lie and at best you might make $55k. I would expect that kind of pay to require a Bachelors degree at a minimum. The "possibility of becoming full time" is entirely dependent on how much shit you're wiling to swallow at part time. They say 20-35 hours a week, but you'll probably be working closer to 50 only everything over 35 would be unpaid. That would be my expectation.

@ldottxt@kind.social I voted as I think it means, not as I want it to mean: they try to make you THINK you'll get much for those hours, whereas that is how much a FT equivalent (nominal 40? Hours) would get.

@ldottxt@kind.social - the pay being listed as yearly instead of as a clear hourly wage is a pretty clear indication that this ad was made using a template (or, worse, AI). They entered the hourly wage (both the minimum and the maximum they'd be willing to pay, but you'll be offered the minimum unless you can demonstrate you're worth far more) and the computer calculated what that would be at 40hrs/wk over a year. So you can do that math in reverse. 55k divided by 52 weeks in a year divided by 40 hours in a week is about $26.44/hr. So if you only work 20hrs a week? That's $27,500 a year.

@ldottxt@kind.social my generous interpretation is "you can negotiate your hours, and your pay rate is negotiable between $55-65K if you work full-time 35h/wk but prorated according to actual hours worked". So if you negotiate a $65K salary and 20h/wk, your pay would be 65K*20/35. I had (have?) a similar arrangement with my employer where I worked less than full-time (37.5h/wk) and every couple of years I might adjust my hours/wk and my pay would adjust accordingly. (I am very lucky)

@ldottxt@kind.social the answer is going to be whatever minimizes how much the company pays and probably comes out below the 55k minimum listed as that will be explained as a "projection if you worked the full number of hours which we won't let you work"
