  Do we have any Jitsi meet experts on here? I want to record my meetings, and it’s proven to be a PITA. The official Jitsi answer is like “log in to Github and download this package, then open the terminal, and install on the command line, but oh btw you also have to have three other terminal processes installed that you have to figure out on your own.” No. Ostensibly I can record screen and sound from the control center of my iPhone, and it works in testing, but every time I try to record an act...

  It didn’t occur to me to look up the word “ostrich” until I saw the Spanish word for it “avestruz”. The ave (bird) revealed that “os” is the same as the aus in auspicious. So, bird what? Turns out strich/struz means “sparrow”, so ostrich means “bird sparrow”. But wait! Apparently sparrow was historically used as a generic term for all kinds of birds.   Holy moly I have been seeing some batshit bonkers YouTube ads recently. I know they’ve been “bad” a long time, but more intense weirdness is showing up for me now. Fully artificial in all aspects, and with violent hallucinogens dialed up to 11. There was one today with the Lego movie promoting reptilian illuminati. The ones for medications show bizarre and graphic symptoms. I only ever go there just to look up songs to share! Guess this is the final push to me not using it *ever* even for that.

  SOLVED, THANK YOU! A question for @theropologist and also for fedi experts: long ago on a different app than I’m using currently, I blocked/muted infosec dot exchange; I don’t see that block listed anywhere on my profile submenus; is it possible to find and undo that block? Or is it a server level silence/setting, not even related to my individual actions? It’s just that every once in a while someone decent from there interacts with my posts.

  I’m absolutely baffled by posts like “here’s a picture of a flower I took seven years ago”. Not meant to insult them, they’re just posting a nice pic of something pleasant. But I can’t fathom keeping such ephemeral media, nor the ability to catalog and later dig up those images. Every moss photo I post, I delete from my phone immediately after. There will be more.
