@ronanmcd I now see them regularly ( I think they are still testing with human sub behind wheel) Would I be justified, excused, defended if I carried a small can of spray point (washable) to disable lidar to prevent further illegalities and injuries if I see it happen?

@ronanmcd Nothing new. Live uberish drives do this all the time. The only solution is enforcement. In the case of google and other corporations, the enforcement needs to act in the C-suite.

@ronanmcd tell waymo that it's "normal practice" for cyclists inconvenienced by self-drive taxis to respond by bricking the screen (or something similar that maybe won't be so actionable but equally problematic for waymo)

@ronanmcd Unaccountable death machines. If I had written a novel like that 15 years ago, no publisher would have touched it. "Too far-fetched!" Now there's 25 novels just like it that nobody wrote, the novels just appeared out of thin air when someone searched for "novel about unaccountable death machines" and that got dumped into an "AI" to produce a plausible imitation of a novel. Ah life at the beginning of the 21st century. A marvel indeed, is it not?

@ronanmcd Waymo should also be aware that it is a well known principal of modern physics that cabs of any kind, even the driver-less kind, will experience a superposition of a hardened u-lock and a car window when getting within one bicycle length of an urban cyclist. It's just a law of nature. Nothing we can do about it. studies at CERN and Fermilab have backed this up.

@ronanmcd Google just one of those gigantic companies who can subsidize transportation in a way to destroy everybody else’s living and public transportation, and everybody else’s freedom of movement. It’s only there to seize the means of transportation and destroy everything else. I don’t understand how people don’t see this that the purpose of these tech companies is to become a privatized version of the USSR except without any call to human well-being.

@ronanmcd Serious question: In this situation, are the waymos better or worse than human taxi drivers? In my opinion, auto taxis should be required to be better drivers than 60% of professional cabbies before being allowed on the road. And that percentage should rise a couple percent per year, or licenses should be pulled.

@ronanmcd it might be a good idea to lobby for independent analysis of vehicle logs to identify breaches of the highway code. Simply make Google responsible for each logged breach with automatic imposition of fines etc. They will soon find a solution to blocking cycle lanes.
