@synec implementation details of this utility have since been abused by users that prefer to pipe file contents into other utilities rather than simply providing the the file path as an additional argument.

@synec I once wrote some code to deal with the baby sitting on my lap thumping the keyboard. It was a few lines of Basic which in response to any keyboard would turn the entire screen a random colour and play a random note. The baby loved it.

@synec They must have been really concerned about cats. They also include *head* and *tail* commands, for whichever part of the cat you're dealing with.

@robpike @synec Unless your cat triggers some control character or escape sequence that can mess with your terminal and trigger a bug, in which case you should use `cat -v` instead.

@synec I make use of this when cleaning my keyboard (which involves removing all the keycaps and later putting them back). Well, that and once focus is in that xterm turn the mouse upside down so it can't wander off to focus something else.
