@synec I assume this is a joke, 'cause cat derived from "(con)catenate" text(files) for viewing and printing

@TheTomas @synec if you type 'cat' by itself, it buffers waiting for input from nothing, and only ctrl-c can exit. So it *does* in fact make the keyboard safe for a cat to step on, more or less.

@TheTomas @synec In fact this is a typical case of backnaming when people started using the cat command for piping file content, they came up with an alternative explanation of the name so they wouldn’t be thought of as unprofessional.
