Damn, the assembled case I printed for the BC-250 (cut down PS5 board designed for cryptomining but decent at gaming) is really big. Steam Machine for scale.

This fucking LLM review bot that got added to LKML is going to be the death of me

I have every reason to believe VBA-M is largely vibe coded these days, based on evidence of Squall ramping up posting LLM-generated slop in comments. So I'm going to downgrade it from "not that bad, really" to "slop". mGBA will never be vibe coded, full stop.

The cowards at IANA need to assign Class E IPv4 space, legacy routers be damned.

I know I'm repeating myself but even if LLM coding tools were good enough for my actual coding work I still wouldn't use them purely due to the ethical concerns surrounding training data provenance and energy footprint. That alone is disqualifying for me, regardless of their efficacy.

I'm just gonna blame bizarre bugs on vibe coding by default now. It doesn't matter whether or not that is the case; vibe coding leads to such a preponderance of bugs in the first place that stigmatizing it is the primary goal.

I'm sooooooooo fucking tired of that new pattern that several sites I use have implemented where if you click on a link it doesn't open the link, it pops open a sidebar with a preview of the thing but narrow and on top of your page. GitHub does it, GitLab does it, Sentry does it. It makes the site harder to navigate. The browser HAS A BACK BUTTON FOR A REASON.

I like to say that Pokémon gen 1 is a hot mess, but if it's still hot after 30 years and hasn't cooled off yet, it's probably a hot, radioactive mess

As we reach the end of 2025 and prepare for 2026, I'd just like to remind everyone to start making goals for next year, so you don't wind up like GitHub, which still doesn't support IPv6. https://social.treehouse.systems/@endrift/113718631117556272

Does anyone else have Quantum Fiber and had the ability to actually connect to your own IP address break? If I ssh into my VPS and then try to connect to the IP address I'm logging from, I get a "no route to host" error. Which is absolutely wild. I've never see anything like this before. And it breaks a lot of shit I need for my work, and then some. Started around 2 AM. traceroute dies at a specific IP address in the qwest (!) backbone. I have no idea how routing works in this...

Can we just talk about how an entire genre of games was indirectly born from a bad game with MS Paint graphics from 2003 that no one ever heard of

I am really fucking tired of trying to copy/paste images in iOS and it pasting the link instead of the fucking image it said it was copying. This has been an issue for YEARS and somehow no one ever fixed it.

RE: https://cloudisland.nz/@daisy/116312358923253621 Let me say, in no uncertain terms, fuck genAI. Fuck every single aspect of it. Fuck every use of it. Fuck the environmental disaster it creates. Fuck the massive scale theft it requires. Fuck being complicit in the destruction of your own career and competency. Fuck telling people how useful it is. Fuck telling people it's inevitable. Even if there are niche cases where it's "good", the net damage from it overall is not wort...

Still pissed at Broadcom for not issuing a security advisory for that kernel vulnerability I found a decade ago that affected the Raspberry Pi. They silently refactored the code instead. The offending code is still in FreeBSD, even after I told them to update it, since I never got around to providing a PoC. I should write that PoC I guess, since afaik FreeBSD (and possibly NetBSD) on Raspberry Pi is still vulnerable.

I am begging web devs to stop making websites that have content that only appears as you scroll through it
