There are blokes my kind of age and blokes younger than me salivating at looking more powerful as prompt engineers (alchemists). Seems to me they are overwhelmingly blokes. (The key is the ‘powerful’ bit.) I see the LLM game. And I want no part of it. I will inevitably touch its greasy surfaces and co-opt some of its utility. But I am consciously curating my mitigation of that: asymptotically aspiring to #zuzai

@martaczc@mastodon.com.pl yeah, me too. I'm tired with it and there's been a tone of them written already. I mainly wonder if we can just take the relevant ones from the extensive body of material and put a label on them. Not to read, but to have stuff to point to when people are doing stupid shit and calling it solarpunk. I'm currently writing an actual utopia. Obviously #zuzai, it's a slow process. It's been a year and a half already and I'm like 1/3 deep in the first draft. There's still a lot ahead of me. Ofc writing is not my full time job so I'm struggling with making the time to actually write. I like your parody dystopia/utopia. When structured as a comedy, spiced with a lot of humor, it might be so refreshing! It reminds me of the old polish adage "żeby tak chcieli źle, i też im nie wyszło" "May they wish ill and also failed at that"

zuzai is a good word for the same reason "vegan" and "roguelike" are good words. zuzai specifically doesn't try to define exactly what genai is, mechanically. it says, in my opinion, "there is an intuitive sense that genai violates some set of values that we share. zuzai is that set of values." I've argued in the past that most things under the term "roguelike" are not, in fact, like the game Rogue (1980). however, roguelike things are like each other. they capture some intuitive set of values we have about what makes a game "loseable" without being the same thing as, say, Super Mario Bros (NES). you can try to loophole that and say "well, technically it has permadeath and random elements and powerups" but I don't think anyone would take you seriously because it doesn't fit into that cultural niche. all this to say that I think zuzai's abstractness is its strength and I'm gonna start proudly declaring and requesting zuzai in my media. #zuzai #aipol #language

Zuzai uses zero artificial intelligence A new word (acronym), proposed by Blake Esselstyn, to better express the “AI-Free” concept. https://www.didiermary.fr/likes/zuzai-uses-zero-artificial-intelligence/ #AI #AIArt #English #IA #zuzai

My personal interpretation : it's a word meant to convey creativity from an entity, whatever that entity is, organic or not. It's not really about "AI" but about the fact that some technologies assist creativity (autocorrect, undo/redo buttons, etc) while others diminish it (mainly prompt-centric, generative AI, but not limited to that) A mathematical concept could be creative, like, say, Electric Sheep https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Sheep One could say that it is computer-generated, but I think it is still zuzai. #zuzai

I really like the idea of the #zuzai label. Creators make it out like how we coined Vegan and very quickly had cultural understanding of what it stands for. We're looking at intellectual resilience, a stark rejection of tech that heaps on layers of ethical infractions, and especially refusing to fuck with the products of said tech. It's a point of pride, a beacon of humanity, a mark of beautifully imperfect but intentional quality. Make it happen! https://zuzai.org/
