Il Tempo: Prodi bacchetta i giovani dem: "Diserzione? Non è la linea Pd"
Le parole della segretaria dei Giovani Democratici, Virginia Libero, pronunciate dal palco della Festa dell'Unità di Reggio Emilia continuano a far discutere e a dividere non solo il dibattito pubblico ma anche i membri del Partito Democratico. "Non saremo i soldati delle vostre guerre [...] Noi organizzeremo i disertori" aveva gridato a gran voce la giovane leader fra applausi e ovazioni dei presenti. Ma anche fra le pacche sulla spalla dai veterani dem, come Pierluigi Bersani in diretta a Otto e Mezzo da Lili Gruber. Tra la schiera dei critici, però, si è collocato nettamente Romano Prodi.
L'ex presidente del Consiglio, intervistato alla radio, ha espresso forte perplessità sulla compatibilità di simili posizioni con l'identità del partito. "Quando l'ho sentita — dice Prodi — ho detto 'speriamo che cresca', perché se c'è uno che ha sempre lottato per la pace sono io. Però qui ci troviamo di fronte a una scelta ben chiara, una politica obbligata da una serie di circostanze che hanno aperto una guerra incredibile".
Il già presidente della Commissione Ue ha marcato la distanza tra la provocazione dell'organizzazione giovanile e l'orientamento ufficiale del Nazareno, sottolineando la mancanza di un passaggio politico interno su questo tema. "Una posizione di questo tipo non so come possa conciliarsi con la politica del partito, io ritengo che questa sia un'affermazione fuori dal disegno che il Pd porta avanti. Quindi una proposta che non è del Pd e che non è mai neanche stata discussa all'interno del Pd, a quanto so io, quindi prendiamola come un errore di sbaglio, direbbe Topo Gigio", chiosa Prodi, riducendo l'uscita a una svista giovanile ma riaffermando la linea ufficiale della forza politica.

The words of the Young Democrats’ secretary, Virginia Libero, spoken from the stage at Reggio Emilia’s Unity Festival, continue to spark debate and division not only in public discourse but also among members of the Democratic Party. “We will not be the soldiers in your wars… We will organize the deserters,” the young leader shouted emphatically, amidst applause and ovation from the audience. But even amongst the pats on the shoulder from veteran Democrats, such as Pierluigi Bersani live on Otto e Mezzo with Lili Gruber, there were critics. Romano Prodi clearly positioned himself among them.
The former Prime Minister, interviewed on the radio, expressed strong perplexity about the compatibility of these positions with the party’s identity. “When I heard her – Prodi said – I said ‘let’s hope it grows,’ because if there's one person who has always fought for peace, it’s me. However, we are faced here with a very clear choice, a politics dictated by a series of circumstances that have opened an incredible war.”
The former President of the EU Commission marked the distance between the youth organization’s provocation and the official direction of the “Nazareno” (the Democratic Party headquarters), highlighting the lack of an internal political discussion on this topic. “A position like this I don't know how it can reconcile with party policy; I believe this is a statement outside the design that the Pd carries out. So a proposal that isn’t from the Pd and has never even been discussed internally within the Pd, as far as I know, so let’s take it as a mistake, Topo Gigio would say,” Prodi commented, reducing the outburst to a youthful blunder but reaffirming the official line of the political force.
