La figlia del tecnico toscano era affetta dalla nascita da una grave forma di tetraparesi spastica. "Valentina mi ha insegnato ad amare senza pretendere nulla in cambio -ha raccontato Baldini-. Mi ha fatto capire cosa significhi amare incondizionatamente, così come mia moglie mi ha fatto capire cosa voglia dire costruirsi una famiglia. Avere una famiglia significa cercare di capire i problemi, soprattutto quelli di chi sta peggio e ciò ci ha dato una certa unità". Baldini è stata raggiunto da diverse manifestazioni di vicinanza da parte di tutto il mondo dello sport italiano e tra queste quella del Perugia, ex squadra del tecnico.
