On the tourist trail because my #parkrun isn't on today (balloons). Obviously I'm here ridiculously early (they did say the car park fills up quickly) so how am I filling my time? By cleaning the inside of my windscreen, obviously.

If you look at my mile splits (and not the km ones) a nicely progressive #parkrun effort at my NENDY of Southwick Country Park. Almost 3 laps on rocky mostly flat trail, managed to drag myself up to 14th place overall and 1st lady. 82nd different location, 9th 'S' location, and a date bingo to boot. New NENDY is Shepton Mallet. #running #RunnersOfMastodon

July #running recap: my second-biggest month of the year. 277.6 → 251.4mi, EG 12,328 → 10,012ft, time 50.2 → 47.4hrs. Highlights: a trip to Pittsburgh and Cupertino: I ran my first Pittsburgh #parkrun in 90%+ humidity and got my fastest 5k in 2026 at 23:50, and revisited Carnegie Mellon after 20+ years! VO₂max jumped to 54.2 (almost an all-time high), and I've run 1,413mi, only 39.2mi behind my yearly goal of 2,500! Heavy training ahead – onward! 💪 https://benjaminhan.net/posts/20260801-july-running-recap/?utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=social

Well that was a beautiful setting for #parkrun this morning. Four laps around playing fields and park next to Tewkesbury Abbey. Apparently it was under water due to flooding from January to March. Dry as a bone today.

My slowest #parkrun of the year, jogging around with the bride and groom on their wedding day, in a dress (obviously). Lovely day for it #running #RunnersOfMastodon

Ran my first-ever #Pittsburgh #Parkrun today! Official time 24:28 over 3.17mi, otherwise my fastest 5k this year: 23:50 at 7'40"/mi (still way off from 21:05 last year)! Not very hot but 90+% humid. It was a cozy Parkrun started by Pat and with volunteer Will today -- they need more runners to join the fun! https://benjaminhan.net/posts/20260725-my-first-pittsburgh-parkrun/?utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=social #running #photo #personal

I can confirm that it is faster to complete #parkrun when not dressed as if riding an inflatable dragon. Nicely progressive (the second half being downhill after going up helps) and somehow bagged first lady too. Did the first timer's welcome and had some nice comments about that. #running #RunnersOfMastodon

Almost slept in this morning! Woke up at 7.30 and then drove down to South Shields to meet friends for the #parkrun - made it around in 31:24 despite a strong headwind for the last kilometre and a half. Now for breakfast :) #running #runnersOfMastodon

Missed Parkrun this morning so I went to the local oval and gave it some beans. Got a new 5K PB for my trouble - 21:46. My last PB was 21:53 way back in November. That was on a much hillier course, so this probably is not actually as much of a performance, but still. Pretty damn happy. #parkrun

Flew in on a redeye and had first run in #Pittsburgh in ~20 years! 7 easy miles along the Monongahela on the South Side Trail: lots has changed, but plenty still felt like home. Paused 40min in mile 2 to take a meeting. HR stayed Z2 the whole way and got VO₂max 54, almost my all-time high (54.3)! Can't wait to run tomorrow's #Parkrun @ Pittsburgh! https://benjaminhan.net/posts/20260723-first-run-back-in-pittsburgh/?utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=social #running #photo #personal

A new day, a new parkrun, a new...ark? Newark #parkrun this morning , doing a bit of tourism. Friendly course, mix of tarmac (yay) and bark chipping paths (boo). Knocked two minutes off last week's time at my home event, I think at least in part due to the cooler weather. Today's time was 31:27 and I bagged an 'N' for the alphabet challenge. Only six letters to go, but one of them is a 'Q'... #running #runnersOfMastodon

#running #parkrun

My 499th #parkrun ticked off in hot weather, still a bit dehydrated from marshalling a race last night. Body wanted to go fast though and I didn't have the energy to rein it in. Also did the first timer's welcome. The big 500 next week! #running #RunnersOfMastodon

Whilst it's not an ideal time to awaken, I can recommend driving around at half 4 in the morning. Zero traffic and saw an excellent sunrise. TAKE THAT, VAMPIRES! I have also done many many things today. But if I start listing I won't be able to stop. However I will mention a new PB at Hoblingwell bastard #ParkRun. Lovely bunch of people and frankly a very pretty run but it is SO HARD. And this morning whilst the temperature reckoned early 20s, it is a LIAR and it was at least several billion degrees. Fortunately I am getting better at slowing my pace down, which conversely means my time is getting ever closer to breaking the hallowed 30 minute barrier. Like a very slow sonic boom. Slownic boom? No that's rubbish. And so I now have 3 minutes to sit down. I have literally read no news for weeks. I think it might be incredibly good for me? I certainly don't feel like I've missed out, despite some obvious major news stories. The world turns ever thus and I appear to be happier and more at peace. Work is going tremendously. I won't bore you, but I think I'm happy and enjoying it. Good team. We took everyone out to lunch yesterday and we all went to the pub for a couple of hours and sunbathed and had a beer. Then went back to the office and did a bit of work then had a quiz which I WON, clearly irritating the other manager there who's usually the clear winner. I think I'm cultivating a nemesis, but I will win her over with my goddamned CHARM! I think she's just waiting to see if I plan to usurp her or something but I have no interest in her crown. I am quite literally just happy to be there. Thank you for the opportunity, Lord Sugar. They then tried to test me with a question that apparently is a RIDDLE (it's not a riddle) that no one has ever before answered correctly. Little do they know I am DEEPLY WEIRD and find the concept of terminal velocity fascinating, so when asked how high up you'd have to drop an ant to kill it (bit of a weird question imo) I reasoned that it would reach terminal velocity almost immediately and so it wouldn't matter and because of their exoskeleton you'd be unlikely to plummet it to its death no matter how high up you went. A hushed silence fell upon the office. Behold! Marvel at his great intelligence. Probably didn't help that I also pointed out that whilst they probably wanted the answer to what is the biggest desert to be the Sahara it would be wrong and is actually Antarctica. IN YOUR STUPID FACE, INTERNET QUIZ QUESTIONS! I AM THE KING! I AM THE KING! Oh that's probably what's annoying her come to think of it. I'm also managing an older chap who is a total grump meister, but he's not to know this and his whole vibe is very appealing to me and I love his aserbic sense of humour so I told him yesterday I've been looking at team building to do with him, which landed badly until I said there's a whisky festival later in the year and if we can get a client or two to come with us we can claim it on expenses, get out of the office for the day, go and get pissed and drink some fine whiskies for free. Which he has grudgingly admitted isn't a terrible idea. Huzzah! This is the longest post of all time. Whatever your plans are for today, DRINK SOME WATER OR YOU WILL DIE! I love you goodbye forever. X ANTS RULE! Suck it, gravity.

I volunteered as a marshal at the Brea Reservoir #parkrun yesterday. It was the first time I’ve volunteered at one. I feel a little awkward cheering for people as they come by but it’s probably good practice. I’m planning to run it again next week.

Had a good #parkrun this morning, despite it feeling warm and muggy. Official time of 32:13 which is almost exactly what I got on my watch. Surprised myself on the run - my cadence (steps per minute) was up near 200 for a lot of the run (training paying off) and pace caught me out too. A couple of times I hit 4 minutes something per km without realising, and actually hit 3:48/km during the last 400m. Kept overheating though, which forced me to slow down at times. #running #runnersOfMastodon

Parkrun before/after. There's at least 22 minutes and 17 seconds between when those pics were taken. #parkrun #running #runner #selfie #nonbinary
