I got an email from Ana Gonzalez, of #Texas #aflcio about the ongoing #strike of 70 #skilled #workers represented by the Texas City Metal Trades Council at Ashland Specialty Chemicals in Texas City, #TX.

Workers are asking for our help to send messages to Ashland Plant Manager Darren Becker, urging him to come back to the table in good faith.

In negotiations, Ashland management sought to:

  • Force employees to perform work outside their craft, creating serious #safety risks for members and the surrounding #community,

  • Slash the paid sick time members earned over decades of bargaining, and

  • #Outsource the storeroom to eliminate #union #jobs.

These workers only want to keep Ashland safe and are fighting to keep the #benefits they’ve earned.

My ex's father worked for Ashland, and it killed him (he died of #leukemia less than a year after the wedding). Worker safety is important.
