Opt-outs expire. Data brokers re-list you. We track which ones and publish new guides regularly. #optout #databrokers #indigoprivacy

USA Public Data Search (usa-official.com) aggregates public records - names, addresses, and family members. Removal is free, no account needed: search your name at usa-official.com/optout, select your records, and click the emailed verification link. Use an email alias, not your real address, since you're handing an email to a data broker. #databrokers #optout #privacy #indigoprivacy

@edri@eupolicy.social Where can I opt out? Those who want to travel to the US should apply for a visa. I don't want my data in this fascistic system. Why will they give my data away when I never intend to travel in the US? #dataprotection #optout

Intelius, TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, and US Search are all owned by PeopleConnect. One free suppression request at suppression.peopleconnect.us covers your background report on all four. Note: deleting your User Data does NOT remove your listing — that's a separate tool. Use an email alias, not your real address. #intelius #databrokers #optout #privacy #indigoprivacy

We made a tracking sheet that you can use to improve your (online) exposure and privacy. Some items in the list are US focused but freely translate them to your own location. The list uses your own local storage and no form information gets shared. Site doesn't store cookies. A structured self-diagnostic tool covering the ten public and semi-public surfaces an adversary uses to assemble an executive target profile. Work through it on screen, print it for a board binder, or use it to scope where a deeper audit is needed. Each category is tagged with the response its findings usually need, because what you can do about a finding matters as much as what it exposes. #privacy #executive #exposure #optout #US #EU https://privacyinsightsolutions.com/executive-exposure-checklist?utm_source=infsexec&utm_medium=infsc&utm_campaign=listex

Your name, address, and phone number are on dozens of sites right now. The guides show you how to remove them, one at a time, for free. #privacy #optout #indigoprivacy

Facial recognition scanners are turning up at airports, stadiums, and even Disneyland's gates. Most offer an opt-out, but few make it obvious. Before your next visit, check the venue's policy and look for the opt-out lane. #privacy #facialrecognition #biometrics #optout #indigoprivacy

@joergi@chaos.social "Just opt out" is also the refrain of the unsolicited commercial emailer, the "AI" content scraper, and the politicians who exempt themselves from unsolicited advertising rules. It is my firm opinion that one should not *have* to opt out of this kind of activity, because it should be opt-in from the start. #spam #UCE #consent #LackOfConsent #OptOut #OptIn

If anything has proven the folly of #optout systems, it is the fact that robots.txt and spiders.txt are no longer respected by the plagiarism engines stealing the sum total of human knowledge in order to corrupt it and sell it back at a 10,000% markup. Opt-out systems are ephemeral, and only operate as long as the aggressor chooses to respect it, which is to say, 'until they can get away with not doing so'.

@chillybot@infosec.exchange @alice@lgbtqia.space it is opt in by user or by server. https://tags.pub/#connect Unlike other relays, if your server admin opts you in and you don't want to use it, you can opt out: https://tags.pub/#optout

This new "tags.pub" instance that just blasts out boosts of anything with a matching hashtag is ... annoying. Pointless. Practically abuse. It just boosted a post of mine with *seven* different accounts. Didn't ask for permission to follow/do things with my content. Its account overviews say "You can opt out!", which is absolutely *not* how bots should be interacting with people in the Fediverse. This should be opt-*in* only. How is this okay? Frankly, I think it should be completely defederated, it's not operating in good faith. #Fediblock #OptOut #consent

@alice@lgbtqia.space there are a few ways to opt out. https://tags.pub/#optout The easiest is blocking the domain, either as a user or as a server. We use the NoBots/NoBot tag because it's already widely used to signal that you don't want bots to process your account. We added NoTagsPub if people didn't want to block other bots, just tags.pub. If you just don't want the notifications, but you still want your posts to be shared, you can use the new filter for bot notifications in Mastodon 4.6. #tagspub
