I am home and safe. Not everyone else is. One person is dead. At least 16 others were injured. A peaceful and happy night was brought to an abrupt, violent end. This is what happens when relentless hate and constant dehumanisation spill over into violence. A car becomes a weapon. A knife comes into play. People who were simply celebrating Pride become victims. Whether through words, intimidation, or outright attacks, queer people are reminded again and again that public spaces are not equally safe for us. That is a reality we cannot afford to ignore. And this is exactly why we need Pride. As visibility. As solidarity. As defiance.
