Introducing Audio Showdown, a new game that @ChanceyFleet@mas.to and I built! She built the original web version after being inspired by the Power Showdown table at the #NFB Jernigan Institute, and I ported it over to #iOS to take advantage of VoiceOver's Direct Touch feature. This is audio-based air hockey or Showdown, where you track the location of the puck using customizable sound cues. Listen for the puck location and movement, then use your finger as the paddle. Use "Where the duck is the puck?" mode to hear how the sounds change in different parts of the table. I even built in little features like a Board Ball, a penalty for hitting the puck too hard in Showdown mode. They truly want me to despise this conquering nation that annexed us by force by 1870. I should not have watched that #NFB "270 years" doc, so I'd not now be vexed to imagine a formalized mindset that applauds an armoured armed soldier bayoneting an unarmed 14 year old because she wouldn't let them take her four year old sister. That's not heroism, that is deranged cruelty and sadist sickness, and going rewarded means it is endemic to the system called Canada.
Who cares about bombing schoolchildren when such is 'normal'. Not Carney, or really anyone else in our political realms.

Just saw a post on LinkedIn by Microsoft's chief #accessibility officer, who was apparently at #NFB. Very much accessibility-first language, develop tools WITH and not for the #disability community, thanks for all the conversations.
Greatly LinkedInspiring for those who weren't there this week. but ...a bunch of accessibility people got the boot. I happen to know about that. And with that knowledge the post rings about as hollow as an empty oil drum in a desert. Sorry, really not sorry.

In 1964, Buster Keaton came to Canada to make his final silent film. It was The Railrodder, a 25 min comedic travelogue produced by the National Film Board.
NFB filmmaker Gerald Potterton had the idea of making a film about a man going across Canada in a motorized rail cart.
Keaton agreed to be in the film because he loved trains and wanted to experience riding the rails in Canada.
Production began in the late-summer of 1964, and the movie was filmed in chronological order from east to west. Keaton turned 69 during filming and did all of his own stunts.
Various towns across the country held celebrations and screenings of Keaton's films, and he was treated to dinners nearly every single day.
The film was released in October 1965. Audiences loved the film, which became a beloved classic. The NFB sold the TV and film rights to 43 international markets.
Keaton died on Feb. 1, 1966.
