98.98% opposition to Doug Ford’s new endangered species law revealed | The Narwhal

https://thenarwhal.ca/ontario-endangered-species-law-opposition/

Internal Ministry of Environment analysis shows ‘confusion’ and concerns about ‘negative impacts on Ontario’s biodiversity’ raised over the Species Conservation Act, under Bill 5

The Doug Ford government weakened Ontario’s species-at-risk law despite feedback from thousands of residents, conservation experts, municipal representatives, First Nations and more decrying the proposal as “a significant step backward in environmental protection.”

At least Cho seems to have some scruples in recognizing his “mistake” by resigning. However, he’s only taken this action because he and other Cons were caught bilking taxpayers . #ONpoli #NeverVoteConservative https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/stan-cho-resign-cabinet-ontario-9.7273986

“But the John Howard Society captured the real dynamic: ‘Crime is down in Canada, but you'd never know it.’ A recent survey found GTA residents were convinced crime is rising even as every major police service in the region reports declines. Media saturation creates fear and the constant coverage induces what researchers call vicarious trauma. That's when perception becomes reality. That's precisely what these [Ontario taxpayer funded] ads amplify.” #onpoli #DougFord #NeverVoteConservative https://www.thestar.com/opinion/contributors/doug-ford-stars-in-season-2-of-the-protector/article_f0f0e18b-7bce-4aef-b118-2cec9fe555fa.html https://archive.ph/Ue1f3

Believe it or not, totally unacceptable,’ Ford said Thursday in Windsor, Ont.” Clearly Doug knew it was unacceptable as well yet let it persist until, like so many other occasions, the unacceptable activity was reported. Shades of some Conservatives in the UK using their MP benefits to build a duck house on an island in a pond on their property or a moat around their substantial house in the country. #onpoli #DougFord #NeverVoteConservative

“Like Donald Trump, Mr. Poilievre appears to own a mirror that tells him every day he is the fairest leader of them all. It is inevitable, however, that one day he will have to come face-to-face with an unpleasant reality: He’s not the person who should be leading the federal Conservatives.” #PierrePoilievre #NeverVoteConservative https://www.theglobeandmail.com/opinion/article-help-wanted-the-federal-conservatives-are-in-need-of-an-adult/ https://archive.ph/izysq

Doug Ford shooting off his mouth again: “Let me cut to the chase here, the previous federal government, not this one, the previous federal government treated Alberta like garbage, like terrible. I’ve never seen anything as bad as that.” I seem to recall a pipeline was bought and an expansion built by the previous federal government that we paid for, not the oil companies. Funny how so many Conservatives choose to ignore that and the fact the Harper Government™ didn’t get one built for Alberta. #DougFord #NeverVoteConservative https://www.ctvnews.ca/toronto/article/premier-ford-says-former-federal-govt-treated-alberta-like-garbage/

“Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Alberta Premier Danielle Smith have unveiled a proposed route for a new west-east crude oil pipeline that would run from Alberta to Ontario. —————————————- The proposal stems from a memorandum of understanding between Ontario, Alberta and Saskatchewan focused on new energy and trade infrastructure.” Who cares what those NDP types in Manitoba think? #DougFord #DanielleSmith #ClimateChange #FossilFuels #NeverVoteConservative https://www.ctvnews.ca/calgary/article/danielle-smith-doug-ford-announce-proposed-cross-canada-oil-pipeline-corridor/

Of course, after crowing about the need for getting more oil to foreign markets he totally misses the irony of where he’s going next: “Poilievre’s next stop in Alberta is Tofield, a town southeast of Edmonton that was forced to cancel its Canada Day celebrations due to intense overland flooding caused by ongoing heavy rain.” #FossilFuels #ClimateChange #PierrePoiLIEvre #NeverVoteConservative

“[Poilievre’s] words for Prime Minister Mark Carney, who is also set to appear at the Calgary press conference announcing next steps in the pipeline: ‘Get out of the way.’ ‘Our view is that he needs to get out of the way and permit all proposals,’ he told reporters from his riding of Battle River-Crowfoot. Poilievre said he had not seen the newest pipeline plan and would respond accordingly when he had. He congratulated Smith in advance for ‘continuing to fight for Alberta and its oil and gas sector.’” https://www.ctvnews.ca/edmonton/article/ridiculous-poilievre-congratulates-smith-tells-carney-to-get-out-of-the-way-of-pipeline-plans/ Every time Poilievre speaks I’m reminded of the article The Beaverton had back before PP was elected leader of the Conservatives: “Study: MPs spend majority of their time fantasizing about beating up Pierre Poilievre” https://www.thebeaverton.com/2021/11/study-mps-spend-majority-of-their-time-fantasizing-about-beating-up-pierre-poilievre/ #PierrePoiLIEvre #NeverVoteConservative

Shawn Micallef: Doug Ford’s attacks on Toronto got you down? Try these seven local democracy hacks to feel less helpless

https://www.thestar.com/opinion/contributors/doug-fords-attacks-on-toronto-got-you-down-try-these-seven-local-democracy-hacks-to-feel-less-helpless/article_b238cdc0-3bd1-443c-a861-ba55db60f503.html

There effective ways to overcome the feeling of helplessness as a result of recent moves to take away local democracy in the province.

But quickly before Ford transfers all the powers that should be local, to himself.

“There are Kafkaesque government moves like Ford banning speed cameras, with latest figures showing this has led to a surge in speeding of over 400 per cent on some Toronto streets. Minister of Transportation Prabmeet Sarkaria said that to make streets safer “we need to install infrastructure like speed bumps,” yet his own government is preventing cities from installing safe infrastructure like bike lanes.”

@MikeImBack@disabled.social @crispius@mstdn.fname.ca It is part of the #Conservative playbook. Janet Ecker as Minister of Finance, took the cash ($2B?) That the federal government gave to the provinces for health and just redirected to the kitry to balance the books. Also #NeverVoteConservative

“More than a dozen wind and solar projects will be built in Ontario, nearly a decade after the Ford government spent hundreds of millions of dollars cancelling renewable energy projects in the province.” One of the first bone headed moves by Doug. “[The Independent Electricity System Operator] projects more than 70 per cent of Ontario’s electricity will be nuclear by 2050, up from about 50 per cent today. That nuclear build-out will be extremely costly, compared to renewables, which are the ‘most affordable form of electricity generation’ … A comparison by the Ontario Clean Air Alliance found that electricity from new nuclear power could cost up to 3.6 times more than onshore wind, three times more than solar, and 1.7 times more than offshore wind — leading to higher energy bills. “ Just another cost of living bungle during eight years of a Conservative government in Ontario. #DougFord #NeverVoteConservative https://www.nationalobserver.com/2026/04/13/news/ontario-energy-elecricity-renewables-solar-wind

Alberta government says new bill intended to remove politics, ideology from schools | CBC News

Conservatives think ideology is what other people believe.

What we recognize as their ideology, they label "common sense". Or "neutral and impartial".

They have no self awareness whatsoever.

Or they would see what narrow, cruel, selfish people they are.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/edmonton/alberta-education-bill-ideology-politics-classroom-9.7148982

The Alberta government says new legislation would require teachers and school boards to be “neutral” and “impartial” when delivering lessons and crafting a school environment.

Doug Ford still doesn’t get it. “‘I want to help these people, but I’m not going to sit back as you put these injection sites in the middle of communities,’ Ford said at an unrelated news conference Wednesday. ‘There’s needles all over the place. It’s dangerous for kids and communities. They’re in the parks. It’s terrible, and we’re closing them down.’” One of the points of safe injection sites is the users inject there, leaving the needles to be safely disposed instead of ‘all over the place’ like in parks. They also keep them alive if they accidentally overdose instead of leaving dead bodies ‘all over the place’. #DougFord #NeverVoteConservative https://globalnews.ca/news/11746295/premier-doug-ford-health-minister-defend-supervised-consumption-site-closures/
