10 years later, Colten Boushie's family says stereotypes, mistruths still surround his death 10 years after Colten Boushie was shot and killed on a rural Saskatchewan farm, his family says there are few opportunities for healing. With every new article and social media post come hateful comments, often presented by people who are ignorant of the facts surrounding his death. https://www.cbc.ca/radio/unreserved/colten-boushie-sask-shooting-10-year-anniversary-family-9.7298801?cmp=rss

Even on X/Twitter, "users countering #misinformation are more established, more emotional, and have larger followings than accounts spreading false claims." https://viterbischool.usc.edu/news/2026/07/usc-researchers-discover-fake-news-spreaders-have-less-followers-than-users-pushing-back/ #SocialMedia, #Twitter

"Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you." - Joseph Heller, Catch-22 My wife told me our younger son does not believe humans ever walked on the moon. My guess, based on prior conversations, is that he does believe UFOs carrying aliens from other worlds have visited Earth. I know he believes in supernatural events. His critical thinking skills are weak. I searched the internet for a quiz to assess one’s susceptibility to conspiratorial thinking and easily found a couple of them. I thought of asking my son to complete one and comparing his results to mine. Before proposing that to him, I decided to take the two quizzes myself. Although my susceptibility to conspiratorial thinking is less than average, I was surprised to test positive for some conspiratorial thinking, particularly about government influence by powerful persons. I quickly realized that answers suggesting my susceptibility to conspiratorial thinking were mostly informed by what I have observed during the last two years. So I retook the quizzes and answered the items based on my thinking just a couple years ago. My revised results then showed conspiracies to have little effect on my thinking. Perhaps thinking that would have been considered conspiratorial when the quizzes were designed (e.g., wealthy persons have excessive policy influence and suppress technology that could benefit society) is less conspiratorial today? #Catch22 #Conspiracy #Misinformation #Disinformation #Corruption #Politics #Government #Society

Shameful #RFKJr targets #Fauci & pushes #medical #misinformation in fiery CNN interview In attempting to rewrite the history of the #US #Covid-19 response, “Health” Secy Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Sunday pinned the blame for pandemic lockdowns on Dr. Anthony Fauci, while simultaneously reviving a string of debunked assertions about #vaccines, #RSV & #measles. #Trump #PublicHealth #science #medicine #PublicDisservice #eugenics #ConspiracyTheories #disinformation #USpol https://www.cnn.com/2026/08/02/politics/rfk-jr-fauci-medical-misinformation

…As #HHS secretary, Kennedy’s skepticism of mainstream #science is no longer just outsider rhetoric; it now shapes official federal #policy. His efforts to reframe the #pandemic’s legacy come as the #US battles its worst #measles resurgence in more than three decades — a crisis experts warn is fueled directly by the type of #vaccine #misinformation & institutional distrust #RFKJr amplified during the broadcast. #Trump #PublicHealth #medicine #eugenics #ConspiracyTheories #disinformation #USpol

Five decades of Israeli covert strategy to push US, Iran into confrontation "As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prepares to meet US President Donald Trump, there is good reason to expect that he will use the meeting to discourage any move towards ending hostilities in the Gulf. This expectation is grounded in a historical record spanning more than five decades. Declassified intelligence, memoirs by senior American officials, investigative reporting, and academic scholarship further reinforce this assessment. Taken together, these sources point to a recurring pattern: successive Israeli governments, often with the support of elements within the country’s security establishment, have repeatedly sought to obstruct efforts to end regional conflicts or attempts to manage tension between the United States and Iran." Literally 50 years of "Ohh, they're 2 weeks away from having nukes, believe me, I'm an Israeli.." and the US have fell for it every single time. https://www.aljazeera.com/opinions/2026/7/27/five-decades-of-israeli-covert-strategy-to-push-us-iran-into-confrontation #Manipulation #Corruption #Misinformation #BoycottIsrael #News #Activism #HumanRights #USPol

Anthony Albanese’s 'AI vision' scores high on vibes but the devil will be in the detail. And there is one glaring omission … "..There are cabinet documents that tell a different story to the speech – one where the prime minister was set to sponsor a submission exploring “legal avenues” to give AI companies access to Australians’ work in return for massive datacentre investment." https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/commentisfree/2026/jul/16/anthony-albanese-ai-vision-artificial-intelligence-omission #LaborFail #Corruption #Misinformation #News #AUSPol #HumanRights #CreativeRights #Activism #Copyright #Law
