The Daily Beast Latest Articles | How I’ll Hold Royals to Account Over Epstein Ties: Royal Biographer by Vic Verbalaitis, The Daily Beast Podcast AI generated summary, Read the full article for complete information. British author and royal biographer Andrew Lownie, speaking on The Daily Beast Podcast, criticised King Charles III for his slow response to Prince Andrew’s ties with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, saying the monarch’s delayed action created a bigger public backlash and heightened calls for royal accountability. Lownie noted that after Andrew’s October “voluntary stepping down” statement omitted any reference to victims, Charles was forced to strip the former prince of his titles and evict him from Windsor Lodge, moving him to a private residence on the Sandringham Estate. Lownie is launching a campaign with former MP Norman Baker to push for greater financial transparency within the monarchy, warning that without swift action the royals will continue to protect themselves. He described Andrew’s current life as isolated and “grim,” with limited family contact and little awareness of the seriousness of the ongoing investigation into alleged sex offenses. BBC News | King told me Post Office scandal was 'dreadful', says oldest victim AI generated summary, Read the full article for complete information. Betty Brown, the 93‑year‑old who was the oldest surviving victim of the Post Office Horizon scandal, said King Charles III told her the wrongful prosecutions of sub‑postmasters were “a dreadful thing” that “should never have happened” when she received her OBE at Windsor Castle. Brown, whose branch in County Durham was forced to close after the faulty Horizon system falsely implicated her in theft, appealed to the monarch to urge the prime minister to pursue police investigations and bring those responsible to justice. She dedicated her honour to the many sub‑postmasters who suffered loss and highlighted that, despite a £1.5 billion redress scheme, victims have received little compensation and the criminal inquiry risks further delays without additional funding. Her meeting with the king underscored the ongoing call for accountability in what has been described as one of the widest miscarriages of justice in British legal history.
