On July 30, 1965 President Lyndon B. Johnson made Medicare and Medicaid law by signing H.R. 6675 in Independence, Missouri. Former President Truman was issued the very first Medicare card during the ceremony. #Medicare #Medicaid

The first presidential candidate to include a proposal for #UniversalHealthcare was #TheodoreRoosevelt in 1912, but the first tentative, partial step toward it was taken by #LyndonBJohnson on #ThisDayInHistory in 1965 with the addition of #Medicare & #Medicaid to #SocialSecurity.

Rob Bresnahan says one thing and does another. He said he wasn't going to cut healthcare, but he did. He lied to #PA08 voters over and over again. #Medicaid

In 2020 as Kentucky faced a spike of deadly overdoses, Gov. Andy Beshear set out to help more people access drug treatment by loosening Medicaid spending controls. But as the costs piled up, so did the warnings that the system was being abused. https://www.propublica.org/article/andy-beshear-kentucky-opioid-drug-crisis-medicaid-spending-fraud?utm_source=mastodon&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=mastodon-post #News #Kentucky #AndyBeshear #Medicaid #Fraud #Healthcare #Health #Drugs

RFK Jr. pauses $1bn Medicaid funding to California and Minnesota (Blue State attacks and lying AI). Stop paying the Fed now, taxation without representation’ The Trump admin isn’t proving any fraud before cutting off critical Medicaid funding - they’re relying on AI-generated fraud flags to justify pausing payments that MILLIONS of Americans depend on. #Medicaid #California #Minnesota #AI #Trump

Mitch McConnell is still not dead, thanks to access to the best health care in the US, as all of Congress has. If he was in the situation millions in the US are in, uninsured, McConnell might still be dead today. https://www.courier-journal.com/videos/news/politics/2026/07/27/new-photo-mitch-mcconnell-recovering-rehab-alive-senator-kentucky-update-fancy-farm-congress-votes/91066754007/ #MitchMcConnell #Healthcare #UniversalHealthcare #Medicaid

Taxpayers spend about $2 billion annually on Medicaid for Amazon and Walmart American taxpayers are spending billions providing #Medicaid to hundreds of thousands of employees of #Amazon and #Walmart Amazon and Walmart are two of the largest and most profitable companies in the country — collectively generating $100 billion in profits in 2025 — but many of their employees still qualify for Medicaid because their take-home pay hovers around (or below) the poverty line https://popular.info/p/taxpayers-spend-about-2-billion-annually

CMS Requires More Restrictive Definition of Medical Frailty in New #Medicaid Work Requirements Rule #USPol No longer, for example, will people with cancer, HIV, or Parkinson’s, or countless other health issues, be exempt from work requirements. The new rule just published, mandated by the GOP and Trump give-a-way welfare package to rich, call The Big Beautiful Bill, is over 400 damn pages long, and is harsher and more restrictive than states first imagined it would be. The rule takes effect in Jan 2028. People must prove they are too "frail" by cruel GOP standards, to work to keep their Medicaid health care. A doctor's statement won't be enough. Medicaid will use a variety of methods to test, including AI, to determine, and at the end of the day, it will be up to a bureaucrat's judgement and not a set of written criteria. One of many new articles about it: https://www.kff.org/quick-insights/cms-requires-more-restrictive-definition-of-medical-frailty-in-new-medicaid-work-requirements-rule/

"The #Trump admn announced that it’s pausing $1 billion in #Medicare & #Medicaid payments to California & Minnesota [two states that strongly resisted Trump's #ICE attacks], accusing the states of widespread fraud... states have appealed these cuts in court and won. #Minnesota & #California will likely sue to get their funding back, and they’ll have plenty of evidence that the #WhiteHouse is targeting them for vindictive reasons." https://newrepublic.com/post/213335/rfk-jr-halts-medicaid-funds-california-minnesota-no-proof-fraud #DonaldTrump #Politics #News #US #USA

#California & #Minnesota won't recive more than $1 billion in federal #Medicaid payments "until the states take more steps to investigate questionable claims." The admin is also "imposing a 6-month moratorium on enrolling new hospice & home #healthcare providers in #Medicare..." #MyThoughts – Medicare too... and #hospice (of all things) and #homehealth... this is not about looking for fraud. The #TrumpAdmim is being cruel -- withholding money because it can. #USA -- https://www.axios.com/2026/07/21/trump-medicaid-freeze-california-minnesota

#GOP Congress critter Mike Flood (MAGA-Nebraska) made the bad decision to hold a town hall. He had the audacity to tell them he "protected Medicaid" in Trump's Big Ugly Bill. A medical facility in Curtis, Nebraska was the first in the nation to close-- actually, even before the bill became law. Reality is catching up to the propaganda. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/gop-rep-mercilessly-booed-at-town-hall-while-defending-signature-trump-policy_n_6a4dc59ee4b0a7adb6d82fd3 #Medicaid #Nebraska #MAGA

Lol. All the #Medicaid waiver providers were using EVV gps sign-in via Sandata APp until the start of 2026 when the GOP changed the rules to exempt live-in providers. Now GOP has to change the rules again because of far right conspiracies.
