Thoughts so far- Bandwagon - Federated. Cool. Open source. Cool. Easy to setup payments. Quick fedistribution (??) with indie beat. Track-by-track upload is a pain, but other than that its great. Mirlo - Federated. Cool. Open source. Cool. Easy to upload files in batch and not much work to fill out track data. Feature wise has the most potential I think. Subvert - Not federated. Not open source. Site works well but I still feel weird about it. #bandcamp #mirlo #bandwagon #subvertfm

Uploading music to Bandwagon.fm results in embedded tracks as posts that can be played on Mastodon. Is there something similar for Mirlo? Pasting the track URLs in my search bar found nothing #mirlo #bandwagon

Maybe I'm missing something obvious here, but when adding a song to an album on Bandwagon, how do you actually upload? "Save" seems to do nothing after processing. #bandwagon #fediverse

A reef isn't a single organism. Things settle where conditions suit them, and the substrate they share is what makes them a reef and not a scattering of unrelated lifeforms.

ActivityPub is that substrate. The Fediverse Beyond Mastodon series is complete. We published four posts about some of what's growing on it:

  1. The microblogging platforms that aren't Mastodon: Misskey, Pleroma, Akkoma, Friendica, GoToSocial. Several predate Mastodon, and some were federating before ActivityPub existed.

  2. The visual layer: Pixelfed, Loops, PeerTube. Your work sits on infrastructure you or your community control, and no ranking system decides who sees it.

  3. The writing platforms: Ghost, WordPress, WriteFreely, Micro.blog, Plume, Flipboard. Each arrived at federation by a different route.

  4. Forums, books, and music: Lemmy, PieFed, Mbin, NodeBB, Bookwyrm, Bandwagon.

I'm so excited for this next year on the #Fediverse. And the more I learn, the more I think #BridgyFed is going to become a foundational part of our network. I just posted my first messages from #Emissary across Bridgy to my account on BlueSky. I still have some things to fix (on my end, not theirs) but it worked. IT WORKED. NGL, I feel a little like Morpheus right now. And just think of what it will mean for every account set up on #Bandwagon...
