The ACT gas network will start shutting down sections from the mid-2030s, a decade earlier than the 2045 target, because household gas use has already dropped 44% since 2010. Evoenergy says a third of its customers will stop using gas by 2031. The government won't ban new gas appliance sales, just 'encourage' people not to buy them. Meanwhile, renters will be left behind unless minimum standards force landlords to swap out gas for electric at change of tenancy. On the topic of the police tearing down the satirical posters in the ACT... If you legislate that certain types of discourse or illegal, you can trust that politicians and law enforcement will make the worst possible interpretation of that legislation. Often to further their own objectives. That's why I tend to be on the anti-censorship and pro-free-speech end of the spectrum. #AusPol #ACTPol
