Pedro Acosta rovina tutto sul più bello: il talento spagnolo stava portando al successo la Ktm nella Sprint di casa in Austria, ma è caduto a tre giri dal termine dopo una gara dominata. A Spielberg torna così al trionfo nella Sprint Jorge Martin, grazie a una strepitosa rimonta che gli vale anche la vetta del Mondiale, con tre punti di vantaggio su Marc Marquez, secondo al traguardo. Si accontenta invece della terza posizione Marco Bezzecchi, che questa volta si è dovuto arrendere al compagno di squadra, più bravo a far volare l’Aprilia sulla pista austriaca.
Martin partiva dalla pole position, ma alla prima curva il duello con Marquez lo aveva fatto precipitare in ottava posizione. Da lì è cominciata la sua furiosa rimonta, fino a superare il compagno Bezzecchi e poi a “vendicarsi” del connazionale su Ducati per prendersi la seconda piazza. Nel frattempo Acosta aveva accumulato quasi due secondi di vantaggio: la sua vittoria non sembrava più in discussione, ma ha buttato tutto all’aria con una scivolata. Che brucia tremendamente anche per la Ktm.
È la 20esima vittoria in una gara Sprint per Martin, la quarta quest’anno. Lo spagnolo dell’Aprilia è il nuovo leader del Mondiale a 286 punti, a +3 su Marc Marquez e +38 su Bezzecchi.
Chiude ai piedi del podio, quarto, Ogura, autore di una grande gara al rientro dopo l’infortunio. Quinto e sesto Alex Marquez e Pecco Bagnaia, con l’altra Ducati ufficiale: il pilota italiano ritrova una gara solida dopo le tante difficoltà e le polemiche degli ultimi giorni. Solo decimo invece Fabio Di Giannantonio. Domani, domenica 20 settembre, la gara del Gp d’Austria, che può nuovamente ribaltare gli equilibri in testa al Mondiale: il via alle ore 14.

Pedro Acosta ruined everything at the best moment: the Spanish talent was leading KTM to success in the home sprint in Austria, but he fell out with three laps to go after a dominant race. At Spielberg, Jorge Martin returns to triumph in the Sprint, thanks to a phenomenal comeback that also earns him the top of the World Championship, with a three-point lead over Marc Marquez, who finished second. Marco Bezzecchi instead settles for third place, who this time had to yield to his teammate, better at flying the Aprilia on the Austrian track.
Martin started from pole position, but in the first corner the duel with Marquez caused him to fall into eighth position. From there began his furious comeback, overtaking his teammate Bezzecchi and then “avenging” himself of the national counterpart on Ducati to take second place. Meanwhile, Acosta had built up almost two seconds lead: his victory no longer seemed in doubt, but he threw everything away with a crash, which burns terribly for KTM as well.
