So, what to do in #Aarhus and #Malmö ? I am into #OSR and #Indie #TTRPG and like #Wargaming of the #ForbiddenPsalm / #Indie28 kind. Well, I actually also like playing #BoardGames and listening to #atmosphericblackmetal and #dungeonsynth . Bonus: any stuff to do with my family and good places for eating out.

Not only does #Aarhus have bus streets that pass under buildings, the Letbane does too in one place. In 2017, I only saw the Letbane's infrastructure, not the trams. So I am happy to finally see them in operation. #StrandbyMode

Line L1 of the #Aarhus Letbane runs from Aarhus H to Grenaa along the old railway line. The stations still have Banedanmark signs. L1 is operated by Stadler Tango trams, which are capable of reaching speeds of up to 100 km/h. However, the tram on my journey sounded rather unpleasant at high speed. In my opinion, the interior is rather uncomfortable for a 70-minute ride from Aarhus to Grenaa. The line L1 runs every 30 minutes. #StrandbyMode

This is my second visit to #Aarhus. I don't know why, but I don't remember my first visit to Denmark's second-large city in 2017 very well. So I'm enjoying refreshing my memory now even more. 😊 #StrandbyMode

#Aarhus has a bus-only corridor that crosses the old town from north to south. This corridor consists of several short 'bus tunnels' that pass through buildings. #StrandbyMode

#bikepacking trip, day #17. We rolled into Aarhus after one last night in the tent, where we had breakfast and lunch and enjoyed the city until it was time to take the ferry to Zealand. Some more cycling and another ferry and we reached Frederikssund, from where we hopped on a local train to Copenhagen. 86 km. #cycling #velo #aarhus #frederikssund #copenhagen #kobenhavn

#bikepacking trip, day #16. We slept surprisingly well in the shelter, maybe too well given that we woke up a bit before 11, so we only started cycling around noon. We kept the same direction but left the coast, passing through Randers and finally camping just a bit before Aarhus. 99 km. #denmark #danmark #randers #aarhus

“From tee-shirt to towel. These hand-towels are made from 100% recycled textile including the museum’s used uniforms and work clothes. Using one hand-cloth instead of three sheets of disposable towel saves 30% in C02." Nice initiative at Moesgaard Museum. I happened to come across it just after hearing about the new EU rule that prohibits companies from destroying unsold new clothes. I was reminded of the fact: ‘It takes 1,500 litres of water to produce 1 tee-shirt.' #Aarhus #ClimateDiary

’Higher taxes on fags?’ Public ashtray as voting booth. ’Create a wadwork.’ Chewing-gum disposal as artwork. An anti-litter campaign that makes you smile. Fair play to the unsung staff who sit in back rooms in council offices and come up with constructive, creative ideas like this. #Aarhus

Inside the museum of ethnography, you ascend a Stairway of Origin. On it, you meet 3.2m-year-old Lucy and 6 other reconstructed figures from the human species we’re descended from. You continue on a Stairway of Evolution that leads to the film exhibition ‘Human’. It explores where humans come from and where we are heading. Outside the museum of ethnography, you meet Robot No. 3 relentlessly cutting the dead brown grass in scorching heat while humans huddle in the shade. #ClimateDiary #Aarhus

Mid-afternoon, mid-city, the middle of the Summer holidays. This is usually one of the most bustling streets in the city centre. Always lots of people walking around, parking bikes, waiting to meet someone, cycling by, window-shopping, standing while doing something on their phone, hanging out, going in and out of the busy supermarket. Unsettling to see it almost deserted, the few people around all walking in the thin line of shadow on one side of the street. #ClimateDiary #Aarhus

Umbrellas as parasols in the audience at outdoor events. Fewer guests because of the heat. People huddling together in a single small patch of shade, farther from the stage than they'd like to be. We're like those sheep in that photo of them lined up in the thin shadow of a wind turbine. A rain umbrella with the logo Normal. Used as a parasol for shade from 37° heat at latitude 56° 09' in June. The word Normal feels both right and ominous here. #ClimateDiary #Aarhus

Empty pavement tables in the afternoon. Busy tables inside. People recommending the museum’s concrete underground Skyspace dome because it’s cool in both senses. The new small talk: salads or spicy food, tea or cold drinks? (Tea. Curry. Obviously.) Wanting a bike helmet with in-built sun hat. The strong scent of flowers filling the air on streets where there were always flowers, but they gave off no scent in older, lower temperatures. The city smells like it’s abroad. #ClimateDiary #Aarhus

Local newspaper headlines are a culturally-specific climate diary in themselves. "The best six hotspots in Aarhus for having outdoor sex in a heatwave" "Are you looking forward to Winter too?" "How to keep a cool head at work in a heatwave" "Fewer guests at amusement park because it's too hot to go on a safari" #Aarhus #ClimateDiary

Umbrellas as parasols. Extra tap-water stations around the city. Signs reminding us to drink water. The new normal. #ClimateDiary #Aarhus

My favourite sport this Summer: watching tourists circle the Danish Men's Football League Championship trophy and signed AGF jersey on display at ARoS International Art Museum while they try to work out if it's an artwork. #Art #Aarhus #Football

Hey, #Aarhus, we're hiring at my dayjob, so if you're an embedded software engineer, it might be for you. We get a wide range of projects from industrial monitoring, pumps and motors, to lots of strange IoT devices. We're also #hiring a technician for our workshop which involves lots of different things from #electronics prototype assembly, building various mechanical assemblies, router/3dprint/lathe work, running our pick-and-place machine, and what else shows up.
