Tomodachi is currently filling my "cozy check in every day" game brain niche right now, so instead of dressing my Animal Crossing self up for pride I'll dress my Mii up
Some days, the hardest thing in the world is convincing myself to crawl into bed. I can be exhausted, feeling the emotional instability from multiple days of having this struggle, and still have to fight myself to go to bed at a semi reasonable time 😞
I really need to get over my weird anxiety at visiting new-to-me small businesses. There's a yarn shop really not that far away that I've been meaning to check out for months, but every time I try to get myself to go in, I chicken out
My hair has apparently reached the "too long to put in a decent bun without help" stage of length
I mean, I'm also really out of practice
But seriously I need to cut this lol

Family Feud: Name something people wear that's made of plastic
Me, thinking about how hard it is to find non-polyester clothing these days: Everything!
Freezing cold at work, I proceeded to use my lunch break to hand sew a poorly constructed "sweatshirt" from a cheap polyester blanket and some embroidery floss
Not even 5 minutes after clocking back in, I had someone compliment me on my top 😂
I need to unclutter my room some, purely so I have the floor space to occasionally smuggle the ironing board upstairs so I can do weird fabric experiments without having to work in the public spaces of the house
Me, suddenly wondering if I can make something similar work for me. Fitted, it is not, but it doesn't have to be

I don't really enjoy having to join yarn as regularly as you do in nalbinding, and there's only so much you can cram into the needle eye before it gets too fat to pull through the stitches. But I like the texture.

Perhaps a hot take, but I feel like if it's not made at least partially of 3dc shells, it shouldn't be called a "granny square", no matter how much the colloquial use has started to shift to mean "generic blanket square"
I wish proper one eyed Miis were possible. You either have to draw them on, and then they can't emote, or you make something close enough with eye parts and this happens when they emote...
Progress
I'm aware that this probably isn't the best needle for this - I keep splitting stitches, and it's too tempting to tighten the stitches down too much - but I think this will be a nice little project bag. Hoping for something just big enough to fit a ball of yarn or two in. And the denseness of my stitching just makes it more sturdy lol

For context for why I'm really excited, the book is written by @sallypointer@mastodonapp.uk from whom I've learned a lot from via YouTube and trust to know her stuff.

@pomegranate_stew@kind.social @SeaFury@aus.social I would argue that "English" and "Continental" are very very loose buckets that just broadly describe whether you hold the yarn in the same hand as the one that makes the stitches or not. But within those buckets are a lot of different styles and as long as you aren't causing yourself pain, none of them are "wrong".

@SeaFury@aus.social I learned English style from a book as a teenager. I've since dabbled enough in Continental to be passingly familiar with it where I could probably muddle through if needed, but I didn't like it enough to bother switching.

@allypally I've just found that I enjoy the experimenting and "figuring out" the most with my creative works, so other than "oh no, I need XYZ in a week and have no time to play", it's gotta be a really impressive or novel design to get me to allow a pattern to do all the fun stuff for me lol Which they do exist, but most patterns I see feel more like doing a paint by numbers or something lol

@Batronyx@mastodon.social I think it's supposed to make the world feel interconnected and alive. In New Horizons, the only thing they remember is the name and island name, plus a handful of gifts. It's nothing really concerning
Older games they could show people letters you'd written them, but those games do *explicitly* warn you about that. New Horizons seems to have taken the "better safe than sorry" approach and cut down on the ways people could accidentally reveal something private lol

@Batronyx@mastodon.social In New Horizons, because I've done a lot of multiplayer trading and tend to allow plots to auto fill, I end up with villagers from other people. Mathilda came from Torgo's island, for example, but I have some from random people I don't know as well. They just don't mention it very often in NH, but if one of those previous people came to visit and talked to them, the villager would remember

@Batronyx@mastodon.social The reason this happens (and can still happen in New Horizons even, minus the emulator part) is because villagers who move out have the chance to move into the towns of people you visit with. In that specific circumstance, the villager gets copied/moved into the other player's town, rather than being a new copy. They have a limited memory of the town(s) and players they've known, and keep gifts given to them in their old town
So this actually is a funny story
Victoria was a villager in my town on my real DS. She eventually moved away.
Later I did multiplayer with the emulator on my phone. She moved in and lived there for a while, then moved away.
The other night I did multiplayer between the emulator on my phone, and the emulator on my PC. She moved in *there*.
And she remembers my real DS player lol
