Yarn Squirrel

I created this app for myself intitially. Yesterday I got to truly test if it did what I want from it. A store near me had a 20% off everything day. I love their yarn section but it is expensive yarn. So I went in, saw some yarn I loved the look of. Checked its weight in the app and then checked if I had any patterns I want to make with that weight. I did and could immediately check how much I would need. Was exactly what was left (it was on sale, too!) Kismet purchase #yarn

With Ravelry down i noticed i need to handle this more gracefully in the app. Will try and add an update for this soon #hugADevOps

New feature: Add any pattern URL to the app to save it to your library or favorites

Working on the app, one thing I am beginning to understand that there are a lot of people not using Ravelry for their library - for different types of reasons - and while Yarn Squirrel has always supported using the app independent of the integration, with the last few updates I have strengthened the offerings and now all users get a Library, Favorites and Stash functionality.

An update to the app has just released which opens the yarn stash up to all users and you can now also add yarn care information to a stash yarn. Also if you link yarn to a project that has care information attached it gets added to that as well

Sometimes you realize that you did not implement some obvious features… So far the #yarn stash has been bound to having a Ravelry login and that then also ment not being able to add yarn to a project.

I am working on that now and due to it I am looking for beta testers who would like to track their #knitting or #crochet projects and do not use ravelry and are willing to give my iOS app a try and report back if something isn't working or could be improved.

Next feature? Storing Care Instructions for the yarn in your stash. I know i definitely want that in a convenient location…

I'm also including the ability to sync that to the notes field in ravelry

Found a really embarrassing bug in the app for which I just submitted a fix to Apple.

In general: if you use apps by small teams or individuals and you find a bug - please if you can take the time to let them know! It is so hard to find everything and none of us ship bugs on purpose.

Aktuell rollte ein Update für YarnSquirrel aus, mit dem die App nun auch auf Deutsch verfügbar ist. Ich weiß, viele benutzten solche Apps lieber in Deutsch. Ich habe die Übersetzungen selber gemacht, jedoch bin ich bei vielen Begriffen mehr im Englischen drin als im Deutschen - darum können noch kleinere Fehler drin sein.

Schaut es doch gerne mal an und gebt Feedback, falls ihr mögt.

A bug fix update is making its way to devices now. A kind user let me know that some knitting patterns got added as crochet. I fixed this now. Sorry about that!

Another update is in review. Images should now load better and I also added favorites bundles as a separate view and a way to add to them

Just submitted a small update with several bugfixes. Hopefully it should make its way through app review within a few hours

A new update is currently in Review with Apple - in addition to bug fixes I added a new tab for storing Buttons, Safety Eyes and other supplies.
Make your stash even more searchable for yourself!
You can then also connect them to a project

we scan the pdf to try and get the image, title and author of the pattern and match it to what is available on Ravelry. Of course you can edit later if we did not find the correct things and manually do a match again later, too. Or keep it completely separate.
