@rsanders@sfba.social @Daojoan@mastodon.social great point and yes I’ve seen issues where a massive cluster can create millisecond MW dips in demand as it resynchronizes nodes between workloads. Interestingly, NVIDIA added an on-chip resistor in Blackwell architecture to just keep power consumption flat in those moments. My point was primarily about new power generation added to the grid though.

@Daojoan@mastodon.social one extra thing to keep in mind is that the GPUs are not durable. At the power and performance they’re run 24/7, the silicon actually wears out much faster than other datacenter hardware, and as a result, they have quite high failure rates across the compute cluster, with the failures only increasing as the silicon ages. The only durable infrastructure “good” to possibly come out is power generation.

@khurtwilliams I love the Fuji cameras, and the 27/2.8 lens is such a great little daily driver. I went on spring break vacation recently with my XE4 and just that lens and got some great moody pictures of our group, kids playing and nice evening light. Plus the custom film simulations really made a difference. I used to spend so much time in post, then realized that the style I like is simply Kodak Portra, and now pretty much switched to shooting HEIC only instead of RAW
