Another #hamradio question.

I keep hearing about #RFburn. How much wattage do you need to be putting out before that starts to become a concern?

I saw a video on YouTube of a broadcast AM radio station frying a hotdog, so I know that much is worrysome. And I know I can touch my HT rubberduck, so I know that isn't.

Where does the boundary lay?

A few days ago I asked for #hamradio podcast recommendations. I offered bonus points for podcasts featuring women because I have noticed that I am finding almost no other women in this hobby. I am watching a video from Ham Radio Crash Course right now and he is going over some stats. Even if those are just his numbers, I think this might be one of the largest #gendergap I have ever seen. I'm too new to the hobby to make too many comments on this, but this should probably be a high priority.

I have a #hamradio question. Is there a minimum power level required to make a transmission? Not legally, but physically, or well maybe not even physically, but practically speaking. Like could I broadcast an HF signal in my home that only reaches a few feet? If so is that minimum frequency dependent? I think the answer is no, because portable FM broadcaster for car radios exist, WiFi, exists, and interference from IF used to be a thing, but I am not sure.

@marcedwards If I am following, the way they've done this also leaves the door open for any arbitrary website to determine if you have Adobe Creative Cloud installed. That could be used as an additional datapoint for fingerprinting purposes. Not that there aren't plenty enough data points already.

@kielkontrovers@norden.social @atoponce@fosstodon.org I suspect that this has to do with the privacy.resistFingerprinting.pbMode and privacy.resistFingerprinting settings in about:config that Librefox automatically sets. They cause issues sometimes with images that are created in the browser. Edit: This is not a suggestion to adjust them. Just explaining what I suspect causes this issue.

I do notice some things that make me question if the screenshot is real. There is some scribbles in the upper left that could be from text that was not fully removed, and the bottom right corner is rounded, despite the text in the message being cut off. This could indicate that the text of the response was replaced with different longer text, and they forgot to fix the edge.

This is your regular reminder to shred paper documents when your organization is done with them.

You need a document retention and destruction policy, that way you keep what you want/need and destroy the rest.

I have seen so many nonprofits and groups of activists that have not explicitly thought through this. Your opposition can and will dig through your trash and recycling.
