SerialPlotster! I miss the #Arduino serial plotter when doing #CircuitPython / #MicroPython, but it's too greedy with the serial port. I wanted a tiny stand-alone data plotter app, so I built one (w/claude's help). It's pretty flexible on data input and fast to launch https://github.com/todbot/SerialPlotster

Talking w/ friends about shortwave recently and was reminded as a 1980s kid I was able to RECEIVE PICTURES FROM SPACE SATELLITES on my Apple ][ w/ a simple circuit & assembly code from a magazine. I found it! BYTE June 84: https://www.worldradiohistory.com/Archive-Byte/80s/Byte-1984-06.pdf On perfboard into joystick port! #appleii

@joeycastillo@mastodon.social @mnl@hachyderm.io @projectgus@aus.social Awesome! And as I’m sure you know, you can set up the display by hand on the non-display firmware, sorta like this: https://gist.github.com/todbot/a23c8cb28e5925dfa79e6dba5c9d0962

@joeycastillo@mastodon.social @mnl@hachyderm.io @projectgus@aus.social Yes, you can use “pwmio” for simple tones. Use the “simpleio” library to give you an easy function for that: https://docs.circuitpython.org/projects/simpleio/en/latest/api.html#simpleio.tone Unfortunately, the only way I’ve had good luck with CircuitPython ESP32 audio is with an outboard I2S DAC module and the built-in “audiobusio” library (even when you can get the built-in DAC to work, it’s pretty low-quality 8-bit)
