this description of what they're going to do to rubber soul on the new remaster, ending with a promise of 'remaining faithful to the spirit of the original recordings', gives me vibes of either a cover band or a karaoke bar pledge allegiance to the recordings, not to the spirit of the recordings, dammit. rubber soul is not for you to improve upon All of the formats boast new stereo mixes sourced directly from Rubber Soul’s original four-track master tapes. To achieve the final product, the album was effectively “de-mixed” using cutting-edge mixing technology developed by the award-winning sound team led by Emile de la Rey at Peter Jackson’s WingNut Films Productions Ltd. According to a press release, the aim of this process was to provide the new mixes with “stunning clarity” while “remaining faithful to the spirit of the original recordings.”

@cR0w@infosec.exchange i was at a volunteer event and there was a drone overhead, presumably to video the speaker. but nobody could hear over the drone i pulled out my tactical flashlight (this was a disaster prep event) and aimed it at the drone. it moved. not because i have any illusion of having done real damage, but because it was there to video and it couldn't see it flew off for a few minutes and came back. i put the tactical on blinky and aimed. it left and didn't come back

At least when they had their accounts on Bluesky, they were on an open network whose code can be inspected. By moving to W Social, European institutions migrated their accounts from an open to a closed-source network whose infrastructure remains virtually the same, relying on Bluesky PBC's appview and relay.
