Okay, this may be a stupid question... but is there a way using Stylus, or another extension available to Firefox¹, that will allow me to universally force all websites I visit to use bunny fonts instead of google fonts? I know how to change it on my own sites, and if I want to play whack a mole and craft Stylus rules for each site I visit as I do, I can do it that way... but that's a lot of constantly ongoing work. I don't have spoons for that. I just want a way to tell my browser that if a site requests a font with a url starting with https://fonts.googleapis.com/css to instead replace that part of the url with https://fonts.bunny.net/css and pull from there instead. In theory that seems like it would be an easy thing, in practice, I don't know what to ask no AI DuckDuckGo to get me information to allow me to implement it. Searching the expected mix of Stylus and replace google fonts with bunny fonts just gets me shit about WordPress. Which is website side, not browser side, and therefore useless to me. (Also, not using WP for anything I manage, thanks.) — ¹ Look, the state of browser options is fucked. I currently find continuing to play whack a mole babysitting Firefox's settings to be easier to manage than trying to vet another browser to switch to. When those of us who grew up on geocities got our fun money teen jobs and registered a domain, and hosting was cheap enough that it was perfectly normal to set up a web form where strangers could apply for a free subdirectory on your domain so they could have their own fun shitty sites away from the ads on geocities (especially once yahoo bought them). I still have the domain I registered back then, as well as a few others I've picked up since (and I'm considering dropping one or two because registration prices keep ratcheting up), but it feels less fun than it used to. I'm currently picking at moving away from the static site generator I'm using because it's decided to go full slop ahead and I don't want to just hop to another and have that one do the same thing. :neofox_sob:

So, uh, how hard would it be to take one (or more) of these slop scraper IP ban lists that are getting passed around and mash them up with something that forwards the slop bots to the various goatse mirrors around the web?

My brain is mush, and efforts to learn new things have been just bouncing off my :SwissCheeseBrain: as of late, but I figure it wouldn't be that hard, could it? At any rate, I release this idea to Fedi, and hope someone is the hero we need and implements this (and releases instructions to the wild).

Those of you on fedi instances that don't have emoji reactions to posts, you're missing out. Part of me wishes that Masto would add the reaction feature, and part of me knows they'd do it in some weird way that breaks it for everyone else on Fedi, just like how they've managed to do when adopting other features the rest of Fedi already had when they finally got around to it. >.<

I need to find a new non-dairy vanilla ice cream. I miss root beer floats and I'd really prefer not to need lactaid along side if I can help it.

I'd been getting the Target brand non-dairy vanilla, but since I stopped shopping there, that's no longer available to me.

My problem is most non-dairy vanilla ice cream feature coconut for the milk fat replacement. Which is fine if you like coconut, but the flavor comes through despite claims otherwise. Most people actually like it, even if they claim they don't like coconut, but I'm one of those weirdos who actually doesn't like it.

So, uh, what are my options? This is probably also complicated by the fact that I won't darken the doors of Whole Foods since they're owned by Amazon. I need something I can find in a store in the SF Bay Area.

I know Firefox is on Fedi's shit list (but what am I gonna do, switch to a fucking Chrome fork? or a Firefox fork?) but I am particularly irritated that I can no longer delete their default search engines. Yes, I can "disable" them so they're no longer visible, but it offends me that Google and Bing and Amazon and eBay and whatever the fuck Perplexity is are all just chilling in my browser when I want absolutely zero to do with them. And I switched DDG over to the no AI version, so I don't need the default that's also gargling the slop like everyone the fuck else.

I know these corporations don't believe in end users actually owning their computers, but this is my fucking computer, get your filthy fucking slop covered paws off it, assholes. Get your garbage out. >.<

I specifically use readers that'll tell me what the url is before attempting to pull it up, instead of ones that will automagically throw me directly to whatever url the QR code has. I watched the one on Academy every time, and I swear, anyone who tries to make me skip DS9 or Farscape is getting a broken hand. Daredevil (both Born Again and the Netflix one), I watched it once or twice, but the ADHD kicks in and I'm just impatient for it to be done. Not even for me to get into the story, just for the title sequence to finish. There's nothing bad about it, it's just boring.

There are some shows where I don't want to watch the intro — I don't like the music, I'm too impatient to get into the story, it varies. But there are ones where it helps set the tone, or I have an affection for the show that is partially embodied by the theme song, DS9 and Farscape come to mind in particular.

One of the little paper cut issues I have with Amazon is how if I'm looking for information on how to do something, and want to buy equipment or kits to get started, most of the information pages I find link me to Amazon to buy the things I need. Sometimes if I'm lucky, they'll provide enough information I can do a search to find the thing elsewhere (if it's even available anywhere else), but a lot of times they don't give me enough information to do a good search to find the thing somewhere that isn't utterly abhorrent¹.

Tonight's rant brought to you by my desire to attempt Kintsugi to repair my broken tea pet. I dropped my poor little fox friend back in January, and they've been sitting on my computer desk in front of my monitor, waiting for me to find spoons to repair them since. Today Upton Tea² sent one of their marketing emails³ telling me they have a new tea pet available⁴ and it's a really fucking adorable tiger with the most expressive little face and I really want him. And I feel guilty ordering a new tea pet without also repairing my existing one.

I did try the most ADHD friendly solution: grab the gorilla glue I already had on hand, but that had dried up in the nozzle on me. Unsure if it was because I'd let it sit too long between uses or when I let my housemate borrow it, she let it get all clogged up before giving it back. So I figured if the easy do it when I have dopamine to drive me solution didn't work, welp, back to the original plan.

¹ Yes, I know a lot of places are pure shit these days, I know how Capitalism works, thanks. But even if I can't avoid them all, I do at least make an effort to avoid the worst offenders... and honestly, you're hard pressed to find someone worse than Amazon in the US. No judgement if you're not in the position to make the choice to avoid them, but it's one I've managed to be able to hold to for years now, and don't plan to change that without major extenuating circumstances.

² Yes, the same company that recently switched their back end to Shop, took away my ability to log in using a password, and broke the wishlist function on their site until I decide to either trust UBlockOrigin in LibreWolf when I can't seem to figure out how to adjust the permissions in the fucking thing, or figure out what domains I need to enable in NoScript to get wishlists back. Good loose leaf tea means I'm going to have to fight to navigate their fucked up site. >.< Harney and Sons fell to this same problem years ago, and the third loose leaf tea place I order from is primarily Chinese teas and doesn't cover all types/blends I enjoy.

³ They're one of a very small number of companies that don't get unsubscribed from, or worse yet banished to spam if unsubscribe doesn't work.

⁴ My fox tea pet came from TeaVivre, and they have a lot of great ones, so I'd originally planned to order my next one from them too if, but this tiger is too fucking cute.

So, all told we hit three places. Costco was a bit of a speed run as I was running behind (as usual) and got there are like quarter after when they closed at 20:30. Managed to get almost¹ everything, and socks stayed put. The other two stops were less hurried, but still a success. It even worked when it came time to take the boots off again when I got home; usually the boots try to eat my socks when I take them off. Why didn't I do this sooner? I know I bought the sock glue for my collection of thigh high socks, but I should have done this hella sooner than I did. — ¹ I forgot I needed honey, but I was able to get some at another stop even though the price for the Kirkland honey is cheaper while still being good. My fallback is Local Hive's Nor Cal blend.

Trying an experiment tonight.

I love my bearpaw boots, but they have a tendency to make my socks slip off my heels and bunch under my foot, especially if they're not crew length or higher... but I don't want to wear those tonight. But I remembered I have a bottle of the body adhesive that Sock Dreams sells as "sock glue" to keep like tall socks up and stuff like that. So I'm putting a little on the back of my heels to see if it'll keep my ankle high socks in place inside the bearpaw boots.

I will report back later after a trip to at least Costco, possible also 99 Ranch, Sprouts, and Safeway.

Okay. So, I miss going to the Ren Faire, but I won't go into crowds without a mask still because COVID IS NOT OVER. So, idea is to make a plague doctor cover for my flomask to make it fit the theme.

Question is... what's the best way to do that? Do I buy a second front piece and permanently affix the plague mask beak/nose/whatever-you-call-it to it, and just swap it onto the rest of the unit for faire... or do I make something detachable that can hook onto my existing mask at the strap anchors?

And with either solution... what materials are most likely to both hold up to all day wear and not obstruct breathability of the mask? Should I make a frame and stretch black lace over it, or I make something a little more opaque and leave the bottom open for the air to flow in that way?

On one hand, it is skipping Bandcamp's cut of the sales, but on the other, it is still giving the payment processors a cut, and they're part of who we're supposed to be avoiding. That said, the attempt to organize a General Strike today happened after they'd decided which months to do it this year, so it probably wasn't targeted against the General Strike. And of those who can afford to, how many actually would? It's a big deal to turn down that much money. We've seen a couple of the OSS orgs do it, but it's a hard choice when they do.
