I'll rather talk to a friendly human when it's for the good instead of informing one of the gate keepers about all my online activities requiring logging in

@asael@mastodon.ml My personal choice for linux distro is @archlinux@fosstodon.org however I think if you choose #fedora for your daily work or #gnomeos for testing which I haven't used yet, they will also have up to date packages when it comes to accessibility. What I like about arch linux is its rolling release nature, getting apps very soon after they are released.

I would say they don't want to host loads of unmaintained one time generated personal projects. If a project is maintained with more contributions from humans this should not be a real problem I would say. @troed@swecyb.com

Although the process is somewhat convoluted, I've figured out how to fill in the target strings containing plural forms using #transifex: Use ctrl+up and ctrl+down to navigate to previous / next string.When you navigate to a string with plural forms, the other quantity is selected first.You can type your translation or you can press ctrl+g to fill the source string for editing in place or you can press ctrl+h to fill in machine translation.When you wish to select different plural quantity for translating use the screen reader features to move the focus outside the text area, for example to the source string or to the list of quantities above the text area, then press the up arrow key and then press the tab key to focus the text area again.The fact which quantity is selected is not communicated to screen readers so you need to make extra care. Pay attention to the list of quantities defined for the target language. When translating from english to slovak source language (english) has two quantities configured, one and others, the target language (slovak) has four quantities configured, one, few, many and others. When navigating this way I am moving in a reverse direction from others, through many and few down to one. I Hope this might also help someone else.

I am trying to contribute slovak translation to some projects using #transifex for coordinating translator work.

Transifex has an editor where the screen reader accessibility could be improved, however most of the functionality can be used by combining the keyboard shortcuts with advanced screen reader features.

For navigating to previous / next string there are keyboard shortcuts alt+down / alt+up.
To copy the source string there is shortcut alt+g / ctrl+g.

What I am unable to figure out is how to fill all the variants when translating strings that have plural forms such as one / few / many / others.

Do you know someone who is also using transifex and can possibly try to assist with this?

Supertonic TTS can now speak various european languages such as bulgarian, croatian, czech, estonian, finnish, french, german, greek, hungarian, latvian, lithuanian, polish, portuguese, slovenian, slovak, spanish, ukrainian and more.
The voices sound the same but the accent adapts to the selected language.
It's not usefull with a screen reader though.

My next journey will be android I think. I will be trying to patch my fork of self voicing kodi addon called kodi screen reader so it can speak on android tv and other such boxes. Thanks once again

I have pulled latest changes from github. Built the prism locally like this:

I have found out recently that it's possible to add call recording to modern android versions by using shizuku with some 3rd party apps. The one I like the most is Call recorder by skvalex from callrecorder.skvalex.com/get . Tested on android 16.

However this is not yet tested, I'm also thinking it might be doable to repackage the OTA image by adding BCR (basic call recorder) as a system app using github.com/chenxiaolong/avbroo…

This sounds kind of scary as I don't want to break security of my @GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social install. But I'd enjoy having BCR as a system app.

@stevo399@dragonscave.space There are two items that I think should be usefull when it comes to this: Go to GPS locationEnable geo location If I press either of them I can see location is requested from the web Browser but the map does not update. I'm using the scan feature after moving a bit and pressing goto GPS location. But I am always getting the same result from the scan feature despite moving some 100 metres or so. If I regenerate the map it updates correctly however it takes a lot of time to be practical.

There is a music player for #android called #boomingMusic.
Its UI looks to be very #accessible with a screen reader, the app focuses on high quality playback and rich features so I think it's worth following.

Additionally for screen reader users saying I'm a screen reader user And I skip reading alt text is very rare if not inpossible as screen readers are setup to present the images with alt text and skip images without it by default.

@patricus I am using gpodder app for nextcloud. It acts as my self-hosted server side component for syncing various podcasting apps. On android I'm using antennapod, on gnome I'm using gnome-podcasts that have recently added gpodder sync support into the nightly version. @pancake Thanks for acknowledging. When looking into your readme, under Features -> Messaging there is an item saying: Reply, edit, delete, forward — full message actions via right-click; delete-for-self or delete-for-everyone on your own messages. My issue is that I can't reach this menu from the keyboard. My guess is that it pops up when right clicking an item in the list of messages. I would also expect the menu to popup when pressing shift+F10 key or the applications key (which is usually found to the left of right hand ctrl key). I think this is a GTK feature as when focus is inside a text entry field or inside a label pressing it popups a menu where you can select all and copy. Similarly the right click popup menu is accessible from the keyboard in other gnome apps such as in the list of files of the nautilus no matter if it's displaying icons view or list view. Is it better understable now please?

@pancake Yeah! It looks awesome. The native @delta chat client using @gnome technologies. Tthe screen reader #accessibility is great too with some things to improve in the future: List of chat conversations on the main screen is not focusable with the keyboard, so the only way on how to enter a chat with keyboard only is by using ctrl+k chat switcher.Browsing incoming chat messages is perfectly accessible. What needs an improvement is that context menu is not opening when pressing shift+F10 or the applications key. I'm really impressed!

@Onlykievv @delta Audio / video calls on android are lovely! In call UI is awesome, ability to toggle both camera and microphone is working. There is even ability to switch audio outputs (speaker / ear piece). An improvement to the future would be even more integrated incoming call notification experience. It would be nice to reuse android system support for this part too, so we can mute the ringer sound by pressing volume button and accept the incoming call by using the headset button. I mean both convenience and accessibility when describing this. Currently accepting the call can be done either by tapping the buttons in the notification area or tapping incoming call entry in the incoming message list. That includes multiple steps. Showing incoming call popup similar to how other apps are doing it would be more accessible. Please don't take this as a complaining. I like these advancements very much. This is how I am envisioning it to work for the future.

@movim I've looked at the Movim blog so far and found some #accessibility issues. Also I'm thinking using HTML lists and list items for layout does not sound that appealing when reading the blog with a screen reader. However I need to research what's a good advice when trying to improve it. Using role="presentation" on them might work but I'm not sure if it's the correct thing to do. Thx @Piciok for bringing this to my attention.

@fireborn I know you do have loads of comments and feature requests and the like. If you will eventually be considering accepting localization contributions such as translation of string resources, finding and cleaning up localized word frequency lists, adding data for different locale specific keyboard layouts and similar, count me in please. I like the project, find it usefull and if there will ever be a chance for being helpfull I'd be happy to become part of it.

@fireborn If you would be fine looking at adding slovak language support this appears to be pretty good word list according to my searches: p.brm.sk/sk_wordlist/ Also the upper row of keys has diacritic characters without shift key held down so the layout would have to be tweaked for slovak.

@fireborn All other keyboards are so complicated because they provide its own text editing functionality. This one is designed in a way that due to predictions the correct words are typed right after first attempt. I just wanted to say I like it and it's awesome. I'm looking how difficult it might be to add more languages, for me and other friends I'll add slovak and czech if it turns out to be doable.

There is a 3rd party mobile app for signing that is also accessible. QT app for signing in and checking the EID card is technically accessible but it's not that nice to use. Fortunately there is so called mobile identity what allows generating ordinary pass keys for logging into state services. And I can store that pass key in a traditional password vault like bitwarden. On linux signing online forms and related agenda is nightmare. For signing documents I can use various 3rd party tools and it works.
