@baldur Model tuning is AI hell, because the models are applied in such a broad spectrum of use cases (most of them rather ill-suited for a language model) while vendors are mostly concerned with scoring well in the benchmark-du-jour (and why wouldn't they be, given that their business model means their actual product is the PowerPoint deck they show at the next investment committee or at the IPO).

@baldur You are absolutely correct about this, but to be fair, those models are super brittle and can be "broken" by over-tuning in post-training, where certain cases start to perform worse while others may or may not improve.
They're definitely not degrading models on purpose, as it would mean having a worse product for the same cost of inference.

The internet regulators in general, and UK as a country specifically, continue to get everything absolutely backwards when it comes to age restrictions and age verification.
The solution is *never* to have random sites you have no reason to trust be able to inspect your full government ID. The correct thing to do is for the government to provide a government-stamped slip that says "this person is over 18" that contains *no other identifying information*.

Friends, if you ever feel tempted to post a photo of your credit card online, don't. But if you have to, block sensitive information with either a fully opaque rectangle. Or cover it with a piece of physical media prior to taking the picture.

If you’re a laborer under capitalism, your income is directly proportional to the scarcity of workers with your particular skill level. This is why a surgeon makes more money than a street sweeper even if the city needs both to survive: it’s simply easier to train more people to sweep than to perform surgeries. When billionaires dream of a world of abundance, they do not mean food on your table, they mean an abundance of workforce. It means you are easier to replace (by a robot) and worth less.
