The internet regulators in general, and UK as a country specifically, continue to get everything absolutely backwards when it comes to age restrictions and age verification.
The solution is *never* to have random sites you have no reason to trust be able to inspect your full government ID. The correct thing to do is for the government to provide a government-stamped slip that says "this person is over 18" that contains *no other identifying information*.
