@mcc@mastodon.social @stephaniewalter@front-end.social I do most of my reading on Google play books. I'm sure Google will eventually shove some AI in there but they haven't yet. And when they do, there are other epub readers out there with dictionary support. Librera has it. I think koreader does too.

@jk The best use of ai I've found at work is it's ability to detect bullshit jobs. If you do a task with AI and nothing bad happens, the task was probably pointless.

@jigso @jk I'm convinced that a significant fraction of the ai success stories are people independently rediscovering rubber duck debugging.

@mntmn@mastodon.social @cwebber@social.coop My company is 100% invested in ai. It's all management talks about. Before LLMs, we were all in on no-code or low code languages, web robots and such. It's basically the same fantasy as before, but this time the whole world is along for the ride.

@dthompson@toot.cat My main problem with reinventing wheels is that it keeps me from the stuff I really need to work on, like reading other people's code or learning how to contribute to a project you don't control.

@Beldarak@mastodon.gamedev.place @AmyZenunim@unstable.systems I picked feudalism because that's where capitalism came from, so if you want to talk about life before capitalism, it seems like the natural place to start.

@ShadowJonathan@tech.lgbt Not only that, but a lot of what people have to do to pay the bills is actively harmful. Imagine if all the people doing cold calls all day could just stay home and play PlayStation. Everybody wins!
