@gusseting@mastodon.social @kattekrab@aus.social @benrfairless@aus.social We locked down the ability for people to create/edit policies on #TheyVoteForYou after a number of people started making malicious/politically-driven edits (include some that were outright racist).

Our team wasn't able to keep up, which meant that the inappropriate policies were public longer than we would have liked.

Unfortunately we’ve seen an increase in automated services sending too many requests to theyvoteforyou.org.au.

We have been forced to implement some extra security measures - these shouldn’t impact humans but if you are having any issues, please let us know.

We've just improved PlanningAlerts coverage for 19 councils across Victoria and NSW.

🆕 9 new councils (~98,500 people)
🔧 10 fixed councils (~270,000 people)

That's nearly 370,000 Australians who can now get free alerts when someone applies for planning permission near them.

In 2025, Planning Alerts sent 8.1 million notifications on 164,000 development applications, facilitating 1,368 comments to planning bodies. Right to Know allowed people to make over 1,300 information requests from 445 users. They Vote For You played a crucial role during the 2025 Federal Election. Our team phased out Election Leaflets to enhance security and cost-effectiveness.
