If you see "A user you blocked has contributed to this repository" for Claude, please double-check that it was actually used for multiple commits. There are quite a few projects that are not vibecoded and currently have anti-LLM policies where they experimented with vibecoding and then decided they didn't like it, or where one or two LLM-generated PRs slipped through the cracks that should not be lumped in with projects making more serious use of vibecoding

It's been both frustrating and vindicating to see that people are finally coming around to the "maybe FOSS isn't perfect" opinions that I've had for years. Like, FOSS is resistant to, but not immune from, enshittification, there's a problem with a lot of FOSS things being very much by developers for developers, making something FOSS doesn't have nearly as many benefits as the FSF claims, the FSF sucks, there's a significant problem with a lot of FOSS projects becoming abandonware if the main dev gets bored because so much of FOSS is solo-dev, and that's not even geting into the stuff where I am actually relying on recent events to realize this, namely: The GPL doesn't stop evil megacorps from using your code, it stops everyone except evil megacorps from using your code

@OctaviaConAmore@cutie.city @cwebber@social.coop It's also one where, like, I'm a writer, and I just absolutely hate the process of making all other forms of art, I can appreciate art, I just really don't want to do it. And yet the idea of using a diffusion model to add illustrations to my writing just has absolutely no appeal to me. It'd just make the story feel "cheap" and the models are far from able to be consistent. I feel like you just kinda have to not care about quality to be okay with anything GenAI

@plexus For me one of the big reasons I don't use LLMs is that I'm scared what chatbot exposure would do to me psychologically. They're so sycophantic, and I fear that would make them addictive, while also destroying my brain just like every powerful person who seemed relatively smart until they got surrounded with yes men.

I saw a post, since deleted, where one of the many wonderful people on here was trying to argue that since their trauma wasn't from physical or sexual abuse, it "wasn't that bad" and "shouldn't have fucked them up that much" (as a general attitude). And like as someone who's had those forms of abuse that are typically seen as more extreme, like, yeah, the extreme stuff fucked me up, but there was also a lot of stuff generally viewed as more minor, but repeated a lot, that fucked me up. Personally, I found that some of the bullying I experienced as a kid was worse than the CSA, despite the bullying not seeming *that* extreme. All of which is to say, don't expect society's views on "how bad" certain things are to exactly match with how much they hurt you, and please try and not compare yourself to others as a way to invalidate your own feelings. Also note that repeated mildly bad events can be worse than single really bad events. Your pain is a reasonable response to what you went through, and if it hurt you it's bad, even if it doesn't seem "bad enough" by some arbitrary standard.

Like, for me, I do want to have a lot of power over someone, but I want to have that power because they've learned that trusting me and submitting to me always goes well for them, and, like, I do actually know best and stuff. And I think while the rest of the system does have some fairly intense fantasies, they also just don't fit into it very well. Maybe these various kink quizzes not being very good is a sign we should restart the one we were working on

@buncube One of my other big issues is that the modular IO is just so badly executed that it seems like it'd just be a mild annoyance most of the time. Like, 4 IO ports plus a headphone jack is what MacBooks had back when people were complaining about how bad the IO on MacBooks was. And sure they're configurable, but with so few options you're basically forced to put the stuff you use all the time on there, leading to a configuration that's basically the same as every other laptop. I'm probably going to give Tuxedo Computers a try when I need a new laptop.

@whitequark From my own perspective/experience doing some amount of open-source dev work, the annoying issues I are rare, and fall into one of the following categories:

I had bug (no reproduction steps or logs included, doesn't respond when we ask for them)
Please implement feature that would take massive amounts of work and break a bunch of other stufff
Asking for one-on-one help getting it set up in GitHub issues when there is a Discord link we put everywhere

@overthehill@dice.camp As much as I have issues with Valentina being considered a cosmonaut (she had parachute training, but was not a pilot or scientist, the USSR basically just went "we should send a woman up. How about...her, sure she'll work" instead of actually picking a talented woman), but I'd count most of the people onboard the BO flight as self-loading cargo too, so it's not like that's really better.
