@vixalientoots What would you say is your main reason for making this? What do you think the GTK workflow lacks for you? Very cool to see in any case, hot reloading sounds interesting :blobcat3c:

I'm planning to sell my Framework 13.
It has:
- 7640U CPU
- 16GB DDR5 RAM
- 1TB SSD (Samsung 980)
- HiDPI Display (2880x1920, the 3:2 aspect ratio is a charm to work with, and it works perfectly with 2x scaling on GNOME)
New, this setup would cost around €1650, so offers welcome based on that.
Regarding shipping, I'm based in the east of the Netherlands. Offers welcome!
(boosts for reach also appreciated)

@0x4d6165@transfem.social It's split, but the heavy use of Python in the AI ecosystem brings a lot of AI bros into Python's ecosystem as well, it kind of worries me.

@0x4d6165@transfem.social I believe that, although as a lurker on Python's Discourse, I can tell you that there's a pretty strong pro-LLM sentiment...

@zaire@fedi.absturztau.be Some GtkExpression work:
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/merge_requests/9440https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/-/merge_requests/9461
Basically: expression fallbacks for when they fail to evaluate, and NULL being expressible in UI files.

But the script part...
Even that isn't that slow these days, modern applications are more often bottle-necked by IO and network calls, so if your apps are slow, it's probably the lack of async/threading.
more complex structures means more cpu usage
Absolutely, I just wanted to say that this isn't inherent to CSS, any modular styling framework will struggle more with complexity :)

@scops@social.tchncs.de @CarbonCarrot@mastodon.social Just some quick corrections here:
The language used to make GTK apps barely matters these days. The language calls into C API, so it will have C performance.CSS isn't inherently non-performant, it's something GTK implements. Libadwaita does have a very large style sheet, and parsing that amount of CSS is a genuine concern, but it isn't nearly as bad as you'd think it is.
