cool thing this afternoon -- my shirt with UNIQLO got featured on a "top 3 favorite tees" list from WEARNOTE, a popular Japanese fashion YouTuber. i am so excited to see this thing grow in popularity over time, especially since i poured so much love for japanese culture into the design. i wasn't quite an otaku, but i couldn't imagine who i'd be without the influence of artists like shigesato itoi and keita takahashi. anyway, the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1X5MW4EN70

They're putting up a new house across the street from me, and I guess with what's going on it's cheaper to hire ninjas to do day labor. They spent their whole lunch break throwing shurikens into a wooden dummy. I swear to God this is real. They were speaking Medieval Japanese and they told me they'd get their Damiyō if I didn't beat it.

@david_chisnall I feel this. I started writing a long form article about how AI image generators work, why they generate artifacts, and a list of the common tell-tale signs. The outline turned into something that can fill a 100 page book, and I have no idea how to approach it. What I realized about this industry is that there's just SO MUCH EVERYTHING that it's difficult to even begin explaining to people what to look out for. A true ocean of falsehood.

@tante@tldr.nettime.org you know what's funny? I spent a lot of time in Pittsburgh and really got to know the people there. One of my closer Yinzer buddies was in his mid 60s and had memories of working in a steel mill.... At 8 years old. He sat on top of an assembly line and cleared machine clogs. He talked about children working in a steel mill like it was the good old days. 😵‍💫 I love Tom dearly but that one felt like a trauma response to me.

@stebbs yup. i used to work in the restaurant industry. they still do it, too. next time you're at a small deli or pizza shop, look at the menu. they're usually sponsored by either Pepsi or Coke. soda is such an insanely crowded market that it's basically Pepsi and Coke giving money to companies to win their business.
