@krummi @herzleid Jag menar nog att det ovälkomnande på så vis att det är liksom omöjligt att få prata språket och komma in i kulturen "på riktigt". Liksom utöver de öppet strukturella problemen som att segregera samhället har vi också en del kulturella quirks som gör det svårt att få bli en del av samhället.

@herzleid Fransoserna e ju dock ännu värre, precis det du beskriver ser jag ofta uttryckt på internet, pratar du inte flytande och perfekt franska byter de till engelska direkt som om du skymfar deras språk. x) Nederländarna verkar vara lite roliga och bara "men, vi e typ ett pisslitet språk ingen utom oss talar det, och vi pratar alla engelska, don't even bother, dt e inte värt det" @krummi

@herzleid @krummi nu kanske jag projicerar/snälltolkar, men jag upplever alltid vårt tvångsbytande till engelska att vara en sån svensk kulturell aversion mot social obekvämlighet. Liksom, istället för att någon ska knacka sig igenom (vilket är första steget till att lära sig ju) så kan alla svenskar god nog engelska att det blir en smidigare interaktion och sålunda slipper man Obehaget™ av en social situation som tar ens en sekund längre än den behövde ha gjort. Vi är ett ganska ovälkomnande folk på så vis :blobcatupsidedown:

@herzleid I have this experience IRL too, when one persons Swedish is not on top, and all others just switch to English and stays in English a while after the person has left the convo x)

@tresf@theforkiverse.com oh, that sounds like just the thing to get some real experience with java! As previously stated, I'm more steeped in C# via .NET, but java seems like an easy enough transition. With the caveats that each task might take some time, also due to me currently being enrolled to an external education, and some thorough code reviews to begin with might be necessary (if for no other reason than to get some confidence and feedback), I'd be more than happy to help!

Okay, fedi, I'm once again asking for your help.

I graduated from a .NET-based software development program in 2024, and since then I've been on the lookout for an entry-level job, but the the current job market being what it is, no such luck yet. I've almost given up, but doing some refresher courses on PostgreSQL and Java have given me new motivation to start looking again.

I would love working with SQL and write queries and design databases, I'm a back-end kinda developer through and through. I am comfortable with the EF-core framework for .NET, and I do miss writing some good interfaces and DTOs.

I am however, also a fiend for a good meeting, and love working with SCRUM (if it serves the developers, rather than the company but I know that that is a tad idealistic of me). I have many experiences in both service and organizational skills such as meeting planning and techniques. I actually enjoy talking to people in different departments and learning how their perspective can help mine.

I'm based in Gothenburg, and a physical location close to here would be ideal, but I am also open to remote roles. I am available ASAP and would love to chat with anyone within the field who has some time and interest to talk about how to get a foot in somewhere.
