I've been in and out of information security professionally, but somehow always have related projects. Mainly working with zeek and network level detection at the moment. SDR, cycling, and climbing enthusiast.

I boost a lot. Topics range far and wide from security and "the cybers" and may include politics, food, humor, science, law, nature, art, and other sundry unsavories. I occasionally post my own projects and thoughts.

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org The ones I was mentioning were about 1.75 inches long, .75 wide, and .25 thick. I don't suspect there is anything like that in these speakers, though funny enough my friend's father and one of his other engineer friends at the time stacked a bunch of these magnets together and unwound some foil capacitors to make some pretty cool ribbon tweeter speakers.

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org > to just suck up every single tiny little metal part thing that launches itself onto the floor. One of my junior high friends in the 80's had a father that work for Priam, a disk drive manufacturer at the time. He would bring home rare earth magnets (samarium cobalt) that we would prank the PE coach with by sticking them to a locker and betting him he couldn't pull them off. What sorts of magnets are in those speakers?

@ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org I did organize my entir4e book collection by library of congress call number at one point. It wasn't great. Last name of artists / Band name has worked pretty well for dipping in to music. There are of course cover songs written by someone else, but If I want say "Intruder" by Peter Gabriel, vs the Primus cover, I pretty much know what I am getting when I organize by Band/ artist.

@natematias Those must be remarkably rigid. Is there a gain in having the deep aero rim that you find particularly useful? I've sort of leaned into the philosophy over the year of lighter hubs and low friction sealed bearings, less rim, and 32 spokes minimum. They wind up light, rigid, and durable.
