@Paws2Trail@mountains.social We weren’t aware of that at the fish market, but maybe it’s only for well-behaved pooches?! She’s not missing out on much though bc she gets 2 sardines a day for her zinc deficiency!

@edsuom@hachyderm.io Inhaling all that clean fresh air of western Washington after 2 wks of smoke in Eastern WA. Divine!

@edsuom@hachyderm.io Oooo. I like that set up! Ingenious. Will consider it. CO2 builds up indoors, esp in the basement, and I like to crack windows except when it’s smoky. We have had 2 wks of bad air in Eastern WA, so much that we escaped to the west side of the Cascades for a couple of days. Poor dog had not gone for a walk for awhile. Then back to bad air…

@ikuo1000@mas.to 💯!!!
I, too, wonder about the older vulnerable people not really caring about exposure. I seriously think prior covid has interfered with judgment and caring about others. People are less empathetic, apathetic, and cannot critically think through situations. I found this small study really interesting. People lose 18% of dopamine connectivity with long covid affecting the brain. https://tech-paper.com/scientists-finally-have-a-biological-explanation-for-why-long-covid-patients-lose-motivation-and-cant-think-clearly-they-scanned-their-brains-and-found-the-dopamine-system-was-physically-damaged/

@ikuo1000@mas.to That is an absolutely frustrating and maddening situation. I am glad she finally decided to test her child. Doesn't she want to know if her child has covid and that she, her other family members and other vulnerable people could get it too? It boggles me how people have forgotten how covid can cause more than 'just a cold or flu'. What about days off work due to sickness? Take no days off and spread it? SMH. Even if it were a cold, nobody wants that either.

@cdf1982@iosdev.space Thank awoooo! She is still wearing the cone. Drain coming out in 2 days. Less drainage each day. She had a couple fecal and urine incontinence accidents while napping. Poor baby. She is bored and sad 😞 about no walks.

Poor baby has an abscess with foreign body and cellulitis below her ear. Surgery went well to drain abscess today, and no signs of residual foreign body post irrigation. Staying overnight. Pic is before surgery. She was able to escape cone of shame in no time last night. Coming home with a drain tomorrow.

@ikuo1000@mas.to In this case, old school phone call reminder from a real person is far superior to new school automated email reminder + automated phone reminder. I always wondered what the check in person’s job was when we already checked in online, and they still have you show up 15 min early. Too many redundancies. Not efficient at all.

@ikuo1000@mas.to @atow@mastodon.social I'm sorry to hear you will have to be the primary manager of your dad's medical care. It can be such a huge burden, especially when you have work and your own family to take care of. I hope you will not only have good tools to ease the burden but also support from others to give you some respite when needed. 💜

@SunnJax@tech.lgbt Monster trucks and extra large SUVs should not be on the market. They sit so high on the road that it is easy to run over small children or short people. Their lights also blind people at night. You are so fortunate to be alive and unharmed.

@VeeRat The medical establishments where I live also have zero respiratory precautions, including cancer centers and specialist offices where it is rare for staff (and patients) to be masking despite having a high risk patient population. Even during peak respiratory season. What a complete public health failure we are in. How many more decades will it take to learn? Will people ever learn? Big sigh.

@mikemccaffrey 😞 I'm so sorry. Rest up and don't push it which may prolong the recovery. I have read recommendations ranging from 6-12 wks of avoiding exertional exercise.

And I thought it was all a scam to sell their expensive medicines. We actually had a very warm winter with hardly any snow in the Pacific NW. I did not feel it was necessary with usual cold winters, but this winter, yes. Good to know the consensus in Italy.
Oh, yeah, those grass seeds can be sharp weapons! Sorry to ruin their fun 🫠. Good thing the fun was already had!

@khusky@shmg.online Here in the US, I avoid tall grasses with the dog bc of ticks! The dog is treated, but still. We used to only treat during summer months, but now it is year-round 😖

Delightful surprise on my walk today—Fox pups! (Sorry for the old phone, not so great for long distance shots). I think they were waiting for their mom to come back. I actually saw her not too far away up the hill 30 min before.
