80s: your TV remote has 13 buttons.
90s: your TV remote has 80 buttons, most of which control other devices you don't own
00s: your TV remote has 4 buttons and a bad knock off of an iPod click wheel in the middle
10s: your TV remote has 80 buttons, most of which are for services you don't subscribe to
20s: your TV remote has one button labeled "AI". If you touch it your entire screen is taken over by a portal to another dimension. There's no clear indication of what the button is supposed to do.
It’s a book. After one page comes the next page. We solved this like 500 years ago, at least. Genuinely how do you mess this up.

@angomarcello@iosdev.space @mhoye@cosocial.ca what's confusing is I find it hard to believe this is economically better for Google than serving up decent results with 3 crap ads in front of them.
I've always seen OpenAI as a threat to Google more than anything else, but it seems clear the next step is enshittifying AI results with ads.

@scottsthoughts@better.boston Airplay has always worked well for me, and you can get devices like the Eve Play that allow you to connect any speakers you want to it. If you're not in Apple land then SONOS is the best fallback, and you can even go so far as to set up a Plex server in SONOS and have everything local.
