@DavidM_yeg@beige.party this is exactly what Edward Bernays figured out a century ago. He literally wrote the book on manufacturing consent - ‘Propaganda.' He was Freud's nephew and he invented the modern PR industry. There’s a great old PBS doc called 'The Century of the Self' that traces how his ideas shaped everything from consumer culture to politics. That is exactly why we need to build parallel systems - libraries of tools, skills, data, and care - that bypass their control. We cannot wait for the system to collapse or reform itself. We have to start building the nodes of the new world inside the shell of the old one. I believe our survival quite literally depends on it. We can share our skills, our labor and our resources with each other ✊❤️

Vacation home libraries, boat libraries, bike libraries, tool libraries, labor libraries, skill libraries, childcare libraries, garden libraries, data libraries, software libraries…. A library economy, everything is shared, accessed, and returned. Not charity. A system where the default is access, not ownership. The blueprint has already been laid out. @Em0nM4stodon@infosec.exchange It's not just the inhumanity, nor destroying our ecosystem. What tires me most is that so many reproduce it without question and fight those who suggest another way. I shared a structural analysis with a psychiatrist once, and she called the police for a wellness check. I refrained from analyzing the officer’s career choice. Wellness checks are more likely to be fatal than responses to shootings. Disabled people are disproportionately the victims.

Crisis is an opportunity for collective resources (land, water, public infrastructure) to be transferred into private hands while attention is on the emergency, not the transaction. In Spain, the law blocks immediate rezoning for 30 years. Developers buy cheap in the shock, then wait & lobby to weaken the protections. We don’t have those protections in the USA, but pattern is the same. Release the commons back to the people!

Communities decide land use & housing through neighborhood assemblies. These coordinate up to balance resource flows using same logistics software Amazon/FedEx, w transparency & ecological limits over profits. We have the tech. We have the computational capacity. We have the logistics knowledge. What we lack is the permission structure.

@aral@mastodon.ar.al I shouldn’t be as shocked because history, but I was unprepared for the amount of democrats and “centrists” that will openly align with fascists bc they are scared of “the left.” Why would we be scared of working toward a balanced ecosystem? Of distributing resources equitably? Of giving power to the people? Ideology is dangerous when it replaces reality.
