Bit of a long shot but I’m looking (again!) for a Mac OS9 driver for the FW iSight webcam. It was not supported until OSX by Apple. But IOXperts did a beta driver that I'm guessing does support it (I think!). Unfortunately archive.org does not archive FTP and that's the only links I can find. I've been through all the other drivers and it's just “iSight1.1b26.sit” that I cannot find. I've just spent an hour trawling through Hotline servers with no luck! https://web.archive.org/web/20080623093642/http://lists.ioxperts.com/pipermail/video-beta-discuss/2003-October/000015.html
An issue with launching gnome-session on Gentoo has made me switch to a different window (desktop) manager temporarily. So trying out Labwc (Wayland WM). Bloody hell it’s fast as fuck. I think I may stick with it for a while.
It's too sunny outside to keep my office door closed. But it's too cold to keep my office door open.
I've got to say I’m finding this Monday morning (well now afternoon!) difficult. Had a good weekend and the sun is still shining this morning, but I've got a load of tedious work tasks to do that I've been procrastinating on for too long and they've built up! :-( Holiday seems a looong time ago.
@vowe@social.heise.de Fizz would love to say hi to Charlie, but at the moment he's having a nap! It’s tiring work being a dog!
I heard a superb #Newton mention in the alternate history Apple TV series "All for Mankind' last night. In the SE5E03 “Home” episode an engineer was talking about an old spacecraft's navigation computer and said "Look at this? There's more power in my Newton.". (I may be wrong on the exact words!).
@mroach@ublog.mroach.com No luck finding that license. But quite by chance I have found CAP - Columbia Appletalk Package for IRIX. Appears to be a very old package with similar functionality to an early Netatalk. non-seed/seed AT router. AFP (called AuFS) and more. Opensource and free. Quite quickly got the AT router configured and got file sharing working as it defaults to your $HOME. Quite funky :-)
After messing about for more or less the entire month of #marchintosh I've connected to #Globaltalk wirelessly from my Newton emate (THE LOCALTALK CABLE IS UNPLUGGED - WHAT SORCERY IS THIS?). No idea what I did right this time, but deleted all the packages and reinstalled for lime the tength time (I am exaggerating). It seemed not to work then I saw a new client appear on my ancient DD-WRT/WEP AP. I'll quickly print to various laserprinters that I can find!
