This morning, all #BioHackEU24 projects will present their 🎯 project goals and challenges they’ve encountered and seek expertise from participants.

💡 Looking forward to seeing some cross-project collaborations!

✨ The second day of #BiohackEU24 starts with lots of hacking on-site, through Zoom, and across time zones.

We made a word cloud ☁️ to summarise keywords of projects this year.

🎉 Today we’re celebrating the #DNADay24.

From the discovery of DNA double helix 🧬 in 1953 to the completion of the human genome project in 2003, genomics research has been advancing and ELIXIR has been a big part of it!

🙌 ELIXIR #FederatedHumanData Community works on creating a federated ecosystem to ensure data security 🔐 by keeping data within its original jurisdiction while allowing scientists to send their workflow to the data.

🧬 Serena Scollen, Head of the ELIXIR Human Genomics and Translational Data, shared the team’s work and ambition.

#Beacon 🧬 is designed to enable the benefits of data discovery while minimising the associated risks.
🔍 It is a Global Alliance for Genomics and Health API specification, allowing easy discovery of sensitive data that require controlled (authorised) access.

Andy Smith remains Interim Director until 31 May, with responsibilities gradually transitioning to Tim.

📣 We’re pleased to announce the start of a new 🇪🇺 EU-funded project: #ELIXIR_STEERS!

🙌 This three-year project is a collaboration between all ELIXIR Nodes, encompassing 36 institutes across 23 countries, plus EMBL-EBI.

🎯 It aims to enhance large-scale, cross-border federated analysis in the life sciences throughout the European Research Area.
