@cks@mastodon.social I pretty much agree. I commented elsewhere that this guy simply blamed everyone else for his errors & was fundamentally lazy. Railway cannot be held responsible for their customers stupidity. I, for instance, use a RAID1 box for rsnapshot backups. It's very easy to check and/or restore stuff. It's probably the only backup I'll ever use, BUT, I also have an encrypted backup on an off-site server (that I regularly test), because things *WILL* go wrong. And I'm not even running a service.

@publicvoit Sorry, but this is a bit silly. #Lisp is from the 1950s, C from the 1970s, the first word processors from the 1970s ... and I'm certain that the ideas behind them preceded them by many years. It's a matter of record that the computer programme #GNU #Emacs was first developed in the mid 1980s, but to simply call it "1980s software" you know to be utterly misleading.

@deech #GNU #Emacs was released in 1985, and has been continuously developed since then; the changes have been vast in all its elements. Calling GNU Emacs a "tool from the 70s" is incorrect and very misleading.

@me@edafe.social I already do :-) Syncthing keeps my desktop and laptop "in sync", including Emacs settings. It also hadles photos from my phone, and other videos, audio files and files etc. between phone/tablet/laptop/desktop. It's ridiculouly useful (oh, I left out a few things I share with other people).
