Since I still don ´t like #wayland (everytime I decide to use something is not working), and my favourite DE has decided support for #xorg I fully switched to #sonicde a #kde desktop environment that will be focused on supporting xorg!

@_elena@mastodon.social @eff@mastodon.social yep when I took those topics with my parents their reaction was the same. The other problem is that most of the people don't even know about those law being discussed (chat control, age verifaction) until is too late. I think that we are losing these battles, because very few people care, usually people react with: "there are bigger problem than that" or "is for the children" I'm becoming very pessimistic, and in the future a VPN will be necessary (before it will become illegal)

@The_Universality@mastodon.novotnykrystof.com @Tutanota@mastodon.social I know, and thing are getting worse with all the new censoring/age verification tool that will require an android/iphone to uncensor stuff, or all the digital portfolio for citizen in many country it will be what? An android or iphone app.. Yeeh, let's give more power to those two giants. The future is grim... And internet is going to be less free. Probably time to start to user tor more seriously.

@Tutanota@mastodon.social the problem is that we need more people that start to leave these giants and go for alternative, unless they see a vertical drop in their graphs, everything is fine. I'm trying to switch my close friends/relatives to alternatives, but i'm a drop in the ocean. And now more than ever we need to show them numbers going down vertically. Not only the search engine, because remember the next big thing is #Android and their kill switch on sideloading. Google is killing everything open

This is deeply concerning, but one thing is even more concerning: how is possible to block this? If most of the people basically don't care? Or they just keep saying: is for the children, if you have nothing to hide what's the problem? The major problem i see is that too few people are very concerned, and my fear is it will pass like the online safety act, with the majority not caring about it.

@eniko this is dangerous. And main problem is that it will most likely be approved being the average IQ of congress members. They are basically adding block by block limitation to the freedom of computing. And always for safety of the "children", that given the current US president well is really "hilarious"...

@vegai@sauna.social no LLM will not fix it, they'll pollute only the ecosystem with half baked apps, with hidden bugs. They need to attract users and developers first, and this too is not enough. But i honestly will not trust a platform where most of the apps are generated by llm. The problem is that institutions should start to use it and require services to be deployed on those platforms. European institutions should consider endorsing it. To have a decent ecosystem the first thing is having users.

Or maybe they paywalled use of js framework. I'll have a look at grebedoc. Anyway when geocities was around ajax was not even a thing, the only known ajax was the detergent liquid (not sure if it was a worldwide brand, or just local to some countries!) :D

They are the new "geocities" for people that were on the internet in the ealry days, was the place where you can get your web space for free! At that time was something like 2mb of space and a url like: /subfold1/subfolder2/subforlder3/nickname :D But it was worth it! :D All those blockquotes, and blinks on the pages, with ugly sites, but clearly handcrafted! The internet was a better place!

Look at all the layoffs. People that worked always more than they should have done, got fired, now not even by their manager, but by an algorithm. We are just number for them. So... And I assure you, things are going downhill, since the only money they spend now is for the shitty LLM stuff...

And apparently thebless competent you are, and easier is for you to advance. If they want to penize you they just look for the needle in the haystack of whatver you do. Also, I work more to make the company earn more without them giving anything back? No thanks! I given more and they penalized me when i started to ask for a promotion . So...

@Daojoan@mastodon.social that what I'm doing more and more, is so a way to save money, reuse and repurpose and rely less on corporations. I code. My own tools, bake my own brrad and pizza, prepare my own ice cream,. Make notebooks, planners by myself, fix my devices,ake myself pouches, wallets etc (simple ones for now) is so satisfyjng, and you realize that sometime it cost even much less. And the.more i look at present the more i feel this is the right choice!

@the_blackwell_ninja And worst is that those people say also: we need to lay-off thousand of people to cut the costs (while wasting billions in chat-bot that no-one really asked for). And also saying that rising minimum wage will be a damage to the economy.
