I know I can join sites and stuff and get it for $150-200 a month .. but that's a luxury we can't afford. Wife is going to lose her job in October when baby comes (Paras make $16 an hour. Day care for a baby is like $2k a month .. wouldnt even break even there.) So - I'm going at it the old fashioned way, stubborness and willpower. I hope I'm strong enough haha.

Folks that don't know - last year I was on Zepbound. Between February and October I went from 475lbs to 300. I worked out. I ate healthy. The hunger pangs went away. October insurance stopped paying for it .. and it went up to like 1200 a month out of pocket from $25 for a month. So I stopped. And I spiraled. The hunger noises came back. And I went into bad habits. I gained about 50lbs back .. and well, this week I decided with Macklin on the way in October, he wont meet Fat Dad. He'll meet .. Happily Husky dad lol. Yesterday was the first day of high protein, compensate with fiber, and exercise .. without the sweet, sweet embrace of a GLP1. It's way harder. I want to eat a bowl of cereal. But ya know what? This greek yogurt with protein granola and blueberries is pretty good. Do I wish insurance would help a fat brother out? Yep. But its fine. I've got this.

@neatnik@social.lol It's a hard thing to manage - because alt-text just to have alt-text will just make a subset of people to "sfdkajskfjsafd" in there so that it posts. This creates a pool of garbage alt text images and is arguably worse than no text at all. How do you promote and reward GOOD alt text habits .. while removing the ones you dont want to have in your network / surroundings .. move on. From an admin level - I dont think there is a way to prevent posting without alt text, only CSS/Styling reminders. So I think most of the governance and oversight comes down to .. "Does Adam just post the names of the people that stink at making his platform accessible. . or does Adam start removing them from his network because he wants his network as accessible as possible" Good luck sir, whatever you decide I'll help support <3 I'm down to throw together SocialLolShameBot too .. and start publicly calling people out programmatically ;P

It reminds me that I'm not surrounded by kool-aid drinkers :) I say this as someone who has to use it daily for his job - and actively feels guilty about it. However, seeing the conversation and push against it .. helps oddly enough.

@andycarolan@social.lol It's the beauty of it, I think. It's curated. You choose what you are exposed to. It's not shoved in your face. I do think in a world where things get shoved in your face it's easier to get exposure to others - but it's so stressful haha. I much rather enjoy the slow build, the brick by brick, and the gradual ramp up of engagement I've had with the great people of the Fediverse!

Anyone play MUDs back in the day? I still will dive into a random one every once and a while to get that nostalgic hit. My favorite one wasn't even a MUD - it was probably a .. MOO? It had its own programming language, you could make rooms and games and stuff. It was awesome. It's still live today which is wiiiid ... over 30 years its been running.
