I like traveling by train, yes. Taking a nap. Read. A cup of tea. Reflecting on things.

@froderik@hachyderm.io our very much train traveling skeptic teenager said something like “hey dad, this trip felt much faster than the others” after a bunch of train and bus changes between Italy and Austria. So I agree, it’s not necessarily a bad thing to switch during travel.

Do I still know how to code? I wrote a short post with some Summer vacation-vibe Reflections: https://davidvujic.blogspot.com/2026/07/vacay-mode.html #agenticengineering #python #ai

I’m fortunate enough to have a vacay so long that I eventually stopped thinking about AI, LLMs, Python, work or even emacs. Traveled by Train with the Family to nice places in Europe (pictures in my pixelfed). I’ve read two great books, unrelated to software or work: “Perfection”, by Vincenzo Latronico, and “four stories” (a collection of short stories) by Han Kang. The short stories are some of the most beautiful and creative things I’ve ever read. #emacs #ai #vacation #traintravel #books

@kushal@toots.dgplug.org oh, there’s a graalpy. I didn’t know that. When I was in the Clojure community GraalVm was a thing to get rid of slow cold starts, such as when building CLI tools or cloud functions. I only tried it once or twice.

@fgraf@hachyderm.io Thank you! About the review process: we decided to have less feedback about the coding style, rather approve + add a non-blocking comment if necesary. Then we also added a really simple, but helpful Slack channel where a new review request is posted, and the post itself is updated when approved, commented etc. When the PR is merged, the post is removed. This has been surprisingly good for us in the team. Less noise and being able to focus on what is not yet reviewed.

At work, we went all-in Agentic Engineering in early 2026 and for me it has worked well. Here's some reflections after about six months of developing software according to Agentic Engineering. (as always, a 100% Human written post) https://davidvujic.blogspot.com/2026/06/reflections-6-months-of-agentic-engineering.html #ai #agenticengineering #softwareengineering #softwaredevelopment

Refactoring with AI?

With Agentic Engineering there's an opportunity to refactor legacy code, but this aspect of AI isn't that that much talked about and seems to be overlooked by teams out there.

I have added agent skills to the Polylith for Python tool, that are focused on that specific thing: migrating and refactoring an entire Python repo. 😅

The more agentic engineering I do, the more Emacs I use. I've even begun using org-mode for presentations/slides. Using Eca for the agentic experience works really well, especially when switching between providers (anthropic, gemini, mistral).

It also takes advantage of being in an editor, and checks code diagnostics via the editor tooling (such as LSP, linting etc.)

Eca isn’t only for emacs, and is available for most IDEs out there. It also is Open Source!

At work: agentic engineering.

At home (open source): writing code by hand.

I see it as the best of two worlds. And to keep my skills, not only the agent skills, intact and constantly improving.

🤖 Adding Agent Skills to Polylith 🤖

The skills will show your agent how to use the Python tool, and will add knowledge about the Polylith Architecture in general.

I think this will be helpful for teams that practice Agentic Engineering.

I have updated the docs here:
https://davidvujic.github.io/python-polylith-docs/agents/

I love music, and always look for new sounds. My preferred styles are different variations of jazz, but I listen a lot to soul, funk, house, reggae and … the list can go on. Live music is what gives me new energy.

Lately, I have felt the need to verify new stuff I find at Spotify by looking up the (often anonymous) artists.

“- is this human made or AI?”

Feels kind of dystopian. I don’t mind AI-created apps or products - you know, business stuff. But music? Art. No. Just no.

Lagom, allemansrätt and fika: three words I really like and that also summarizes Sweden pretty well!

I just released a new feature in the Python tools for the Polylith Architecture:

Validate the interfaces for the bricks in the Polylith workspace.

This feature is useful for teams that develop code with clear and explicit boundaries, and want to be able to validate those in their Monorepo.

Announcement here:
https://github.com/DavidVujic/python-polylith/discussions/437

I'm not too worried about any Brain rot caused by using too much AI, mainly becase I'm an :emacs: user.

With Emacs, it is by design a constant Brain Trainer. Like now, when the command for how to copy an entire buffer had disappeared from my memory (yes, we don't refer to files as something silly as "files" here).

So. I forced myself to focus, and also try to get into a Zen Flow state by thinking about the wise words from Bruce Lee:

"- Don't think! Feel."

The command: C-x h

@ollej Makes sense! Guess Artemis II is already on its way to the coordinates revealed by the Monolith. “- Claude, open the pod bay door please.” “Certainly! Do you also want me to open the other doors too?” “No, just that one door.” Silence. Claude, accidentally typed “rm -rf /“ when attempting to list the available doors. The space craft is now without any running system available. Free falling in outer space.

@josephguhlin@sci.kiwi I recently learned about Pixi, from a contribution to an Open Source project that I maintain. Pixi seems very nice! If you are into monorepos, have a look at Polylith (that’s the project I maintain) that got Pixi support just a few days ago 🤩
