@jonathangulbrandsen@gigant.social @baldur@toot.cafe i mean, they won't even show me what parts are available, never mind prices, without entering a serial number on your second link. that is not especially encouraging. the battery procedure on the second link requires an iphone display press tool you have to rent from them, which is objectively insane.
i've done a handful of battery replacements on intel macbooks using ifixit's instructions...it's annoying but doable with "just" a set of specialty driver bits. i'm very comfortable saying that requiring a tool rental from apple to replace just the battery puts it in "you cannot repair this yourself" territory, no matter what apple claims.
and he said there wasn't an apple store in iceland, not that you couldn't ship it off overseas. i'm going to go out on a limb and guess that shipping to/from iceland is not going to be cheap.
