sometimes i like to lie on my back and look at the sky i imagine gravity inside out and i am falling up and up and up except now it is down never ending always falling through the sky into space and i wonder where would be the place i would finally die from falling down into the sky… and then i remind myself what is really real — i’m lying on the grass and all the world is still and i’m alive and the sky is up (not down) it was just a wild ride in my wild mind i like to do this from time to time lying on my back and looking at the sky ☁️ #poetry @poetry@fedigroups.social #imadorkyay #photography

three good things 1: had the most positive experience of heartwrenching conflict today, that i’ve probably ever had in my life. conflict sucks, but i think it’s inevitable, especially the closer you are with someone. i am really, really grateful this conflict was handled the way it was handled, and i am especially grateful for such a relationship of fortitude. 🤍 2: i accidentally discovered some *really* delicious coconut ice cream pops (because they were out of my usual outshine bars, so they substituted for my pickup order). normally, i don’t approve substitutions because i can’t have “sugar”. i can, however, have “cane sugar” and that’s what was in these!! it was a very serendipitous event. ^◡^  3: last but very not least, it is time for bed, and i am going to fall into mine quite happily. goodnight fedi. thank you for your friendship. #3goodthings #ThreeGoodThings @3goodthings@fedigroups.social

when i moved servers, i had to re-send follow requests to some of the people i was previously following; one of those folks (who happens to be one of my favorite people to follow on fedi) has not yet approved my follow request from this new account. however, i see that they are still following me.

i really miss seeing their posts in my feed. which way is the actual best way to handle this scenario?

1: ping them in a post with the privacy set to ‘followers only’; let them know you migrated servers, sent a new follow request, and miss their posts in your feed, but there’s no pressure or hurt feelings if they don’t want to approve the follow request for any reason.

2: since they’re still following you, go ahead and send them a private message checking in with them about it.

3: probably best not to ping them or send a private message for various reasons; just sit tight and hope they eventually find your follow request.

4: a different suggestion, posted in the comments or sent via pm.

1: i got to talk to my son on the phone for over an hour; such a rare occurrence to talk on the phone at all, so the length of time was extra sweet.

2: potential plans got canceled and, being the homebody that i am, i was very happy about this. 🤭 (please don’t confuse ‘homebody’ with ‘busybody’ like i did for the first two decades of my life…)

3: learned some new things about fedi today that are making it that much more fun to engage with.

@grim_elsewhere i’ve acquired my online friends by seeming chance; it’s not something i ever set out to do. i’m a terribly connective person, and i think that helps somehow? (i do mean ‘terribly’ in its positive sense *and* negative sense…my enthusiasm for connecting with people sometimes repels folks) i think the ability to cultivate close friendships online probably has to do with a mixture of the following: • how transparent i am about my thoughts and feelings • how well i listen to someone else being transparent about theirs • how interesting the other person is to me • how interesting i am to the other person • and probably even a small amount of Magical Thinking (i.e. believing i know someone better than i actually do and vice versa) i think transparency and authenticity are likely the major keys. compassion and caring and empathy are solid factors, too. i definitely feel most drawn to people who are honest but kind, who ask questions and show curiosity about others’ experience of being alive, and who demonstrate empathy in their responses to what others have to say. there are a few people i follow on fedi who are particularly good at these things and they are the ones to whom i feel closest.

• i am particularly obsessed with bees & bunnies. i also love bugs.

• my primary posting focus is photography, poetry, & positivity (but not the poisonous kind). i also really like alliteration & run-on sentences & will take full advantage of every opportunity that presents itself to make use of these literary devices.

• i am here for friendship and comraderi, even though i can’t spell it. (commaraderie? comradary? CAMARADERIE!! so many a’s, wow.) i promise i will be a better fedi neighbor than i am a Speller Of Camaraderie. :bunhduwu:

• i try very hard to be screen-reader friendly (i do use the occasional emoji). if there’s a way i can further facilitate screen-reader use, please feel free to educate me; i am always open to learning, especially from a kind & compassionate spirit.

• i love persons & i love meeting new ones.

• lastly, & most importantly, i love to laugh. i love to make fun & have fun. silliness is my default setting, because life is hard & laughter is healing. ❤️‍🩹
